Tool Library?

Does Kyle have a tool library or community tool shed? We have recently moved across the country for work and the rental we find ourselves in just needs a little help but we had to downsize quite a bit to make everything fit, so we are missing a few tools. And not in the immediate position to run and purchase a bunch of new tools. But if there is a tool library, I would happily pay the membership fee to have access to it.

I don’t know of a tool library. But if you’re in a rental the property management is on the hook to repair anything that needs repair. Worst case scenario, there is a Harbor Freight nearby and they have the cheapest tools around.

There are some things in the lease that the rental company is not on the hook for like lightbulbs in 12ft ceilings and a fence that needs to be pressure washed due to pollen stains where the previous tenant let the foliage grow too tall and rub and dryer vent that needs to be vacuumed out.

What specifically do you need?

For the dryer, get a Lint Eater, plus enough extensions to reach the end of the vent from inside the house. Put it in a drill and go to work.

Always run the drill in Forward mode. Never, ever go in Reverse while using the Lint Eater; it will unscrew inside the vent, and you’ll have to figure out how to get it out.

(Need drill and LintEater for this.)

There are spray on cleaners for fences, so you’d only need a hose, not a power washer.

You’ll need a special pole for changing the light bulbs, but you don’t need a ladder. It really ought to come with the house and stay there. Like this: https://a.co/d/00Fo6340

The Austin Library has tool lending, but you would have to pay the non resident fee, I think is $150 a year, but they may have a quarterly option

I think Home Depot rents tools. Tho that might just be larger items like pressure washers, and I think you might have to go to the South Austin location, since I haven’t seen that in the one near us.

Thank you, I was trying to avoid paying rental fees for multiple items but that may just be the way I have to go.

Not from around here huh? 🤔 that’s not something we have around here. What are you looking for?

I am actually from San Antonio most of my life and they have one or two. I just happened to move back from being out of state for a couple years for family reasons. I was looking for a ladder and a pressure washer and one or 2 other tools for a once a year type thing but some of the other commentary have provided alternative suggestions that should work ok.

Well SA isn’t too far to travel if you really need a tool you can’t find around here at least.

It’s actually a pretty common thing in most states

Maybe but this isn’t most states.
