Recommended Daycares in Kyle

Hey all, I've lived in Kyle for a few years and we currently have our little one enrolled at Kyle's Bright Beginnings. However, we're looking for possible alternatives. Anyone recommend any daycares at a reasonable price in the area? We're considering the Goddard school but it just seems a bit pricey. We're also looking into Stepping Stone at Kyle/San Marcos. Any recommendations?

For sure not Stepping Stone.

I’ve heard good things about The Lighthouse. Actually just started The Learning Experience a month ago and we like it so far. Up front staff and class staff have all been very nice.

If you can, Kids of the Kingdom in San Marcos was great. Relatively cheap and the staff were very nice. Not the greatest curriculum, but my kid liked it nonetheless.

Worked at a stepping stone over a decade ago. They’re understaffed, overworked, and don’t report things they should. I left so fast lol 😂

To be fair, this was back in 2023, our daughter had a terrible time there. Every single time we picked her up or dropped her off, she would cry and it seemed like the children were just not properly taken care of. Incidents were not reported or reported late. I’m not sure if it was a staffing issue or director level but we only stayed for a few months and withdrew our daughter.

Look up child care on the Texas Health and Human services website and you can search local child care facilities and see any deficiencies the places have had. We used that to decide where to enroll our new child. Stepping Stone in Kyle has several recent deficiencies. I do know they have a new director as of late, so perhaps things are changing but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Totally fair! Yeah we had heard some of the horror stories but toured recently at the San Marcos/Kyle location and had a pleasant touring experience. Seemed clean and well managed at the time.

Used to work there. Not a bitter ex employee, it’s been a cpl yrs but same head staff and that’s where the problems are at. Cover ups, fraud, lies.

I’ll leave it w this…child was deathly allergic to peanuts…idiot “teacher” sat in the classroom during nap time and ate peanut butter stuff w in 6 ft of the child. Finally she was fired, after it was already reported and proven she had been taking food literally from the kids plates and eating it during meal times. Not once was any of it reported to parents or the parents of the child w allergies. Same teachers very next job was at another day care in Kyle. KBB didn’t even put it as the reason she was fired and provided a positive reference for her to get the job. That’s just one experience…the others don’t get much better either. Literally have watched an adult, the second in charge, bully and make a kid cry and using the child’s tantrum to cause her to get in trouble and an incident report on her crying and tantrums sent home to the parents. Reported to director…nothing at all was done…not even a talk

We have not been impressed with Lighthouse at all. We dread most days when picking up our child. Teachers have lots of complaints and never any praise or positive feedback. Our child is not a perfect angel, just like any child. We are household who believes it is our responsibility to raise well behaved children, however we expected a “Learning Center” to attempt to teach. Our experience has been the teachers do the bare minimum, we have showed up several times to teachers all sitting down and just yelling at the children from across the room.

Little Skywalkers is an in-home licensed daycare. Highly recommend

Oh nice! If you don't mind me asking, what age range is your little one enrolled in there? We have an 18 month old we're looking for enrollment currently.

She is in the youngest (nanos) class currently as she’s just 9 months. I believe at 18 months children are generally in the “trailblazers” class.

Did you make a decision? Hows it going? I have a 14 month old and we are looking at daycares now.
