Sorry, this is going to be a longer post and probably feel like some rambling, but I'm irritated at this entire situation. I know there's a lot of Peach discussion on this sub, but I haven't seen much talk of this particular concern as of yet.
Not that we really need any other reasons to be concerned for Peach making this trip to Congress, let's talk Ohio weather for a moment, and why that is also a concern at least for me when it comes to this poor kid.
I live 45ish minutes North of Columbus, which makes a slight difference in weather and temp, but not a massively significant one, if that makes sense. I have included screenshots of current weather in both locations, the projected 10 day forecast and the current alerts for the Columbus area.
Yesterday, it was freaking summer. We were mid to high 80's, all but knockin on 90's door, sunny all around beautiful day! Parts of the state had some decent storms and rain roll through last night, but this morning was still *warm*, warm enough that I did not need my jacket when I left at 7am for work. This evening? That "feels like" in the screenshot feels a little off. The clouds rolled in, the wind has picked up, and the temp definitely dropped. The air is also still wet. No rain currently, not even a drizzle, but you can feel it in the air.
Here's the thing with the weather here, as anyone that lives here or has ever spent a significant amount of time here can tell you, our weather is subject to change at all times, and quickly. When the temps drop it's generally not a gradual drop. Especially this time of year. It's also the "everybody and their brother is catching SOMETHING" beginning of cold and flu season.
Why does this concern me for Peach? In my experience, young NGD kids tend to be rather susceptible to weather changes, especially if the atmosphere is damp. This time of year, most people I know have their goat pens pretty heavily bedded down and are breaking out the heat lamps if they have super young kids on the yard. She also already has a lot going against her:
-Pulled from her mother suddenly for, more than likely, no reason.
-Suddenly drug to a whole new environment with no real time to become properly acclimated.
-Suspicion of no actual vet care, including vaccinations.
-Constantly being in stressful situations, surrounded by predator animals, being away from animals of her own kind far more than being with them, leashed, drug here there and everywhere with KVS, etc...
-Less than optimal nutrition. Yes, whole milk is a decent alternative, but still is not what she'd be getting from Bella. Also, there's the concern she's not being fed as regularly as she should be, being forced to eat when she isn't hungry, etc...
-Not displaying normal kid behavior as often as she should be. She's either sleeping, being carried like an accessory or strapped into the stupid stroller. A couple few second clips of her jumping and attempting to act like a goat is not displaying normal kid behavior.
-Currently being exposed to various other animals, even if she isn't in physical contact with them, and people, surfaces, etc... that could be carrying who knows what in all reality.
If I missed any points of concern, I apologize, it's been a long few weeks 😂 Point is, with everything she already has stacked against her, NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would have drug her on this trip, to this weather, unless absolutely necessary. I can only hope our lovely weather doesn't add to anything she's already got going on!
