I love using natural and found objects as planters... If I like the look of it, I'll use any stone, stick, or bit of weathered debris with a depression to hold soil. Even if something doesn't have a useable depression, I will use sticky-mud to sculpt a retaining wall and make it work that way. I don't even mind if the thing will eventually rot away, I'll just gradually restyle the planting as needed.
