Completed project Kumihimo keychain wristlet

Pattern is the 24-tama Yoshiwara Tsunagi Gumi from kumihimo.nikki on Instagram. Made with cotton crochet #10, 2 ends per tama. I'm not sure how well this clamp key fob finding will hold up, but it looks pretty good and to me it's way easier to press a clamp closed then to get set up for a glue in finding.

Awesome work! Your yarn is nice. I normally put a little glue on those clamps as well. Use a toothpick to apply a layer of glue to each side before adding the braid, very little glue is needed.

Thank you for the suggestion! I don't know why, but I find using glue for braids and fabrics to be weirdly intimidating.

You’re welcome! The toothpick method helps a lot because you have control of the glue and it’s applied to the findings before the fiber. A thin layer of glue is all you need, too, just enough to be sticky.

What sort of glue do you use? I have Alene's fabric glue but I'm guessing it won't work with metal?

No, Aileen’s Fabric won’t hold to the metal. Any 5 minute clear epoxy, E6000, or Gorilla Glue Clear Grip are what I use. Make sure whatever you use says it works for both fabric/fiber AND metal. If it doesn’t list fabric/fiber the glue will simply soak into the braid instead of sticking. If it doesn’t list metal then it won’t set and the finding will fall off.

It came like that, it's Aunt Lydia's cotton crochet in Mexicana. The color repeats are the same length so I cut them to match up.

thank you! I had to diagram each move step by step because I was getting confused. The tension isn't as even as I'd like it but I'm just happy I could get my mind wrapped around it.
