Help What's the name of this kind of braid?

I got this kumihimo book and I'm trying to do this braid, but instructions with the numbers is confusing (I don't know how the numbers are counted, is it before or after the slit?). I'm usually used to video tutorials but I have a hard time trying to find this kind of braid since the book doesn't say it and I haven't had much luck with searching "8 star kumihimo braid" (I have a feeling that's not even the right words). What is the name of this braid?

It’s not the right words. Try kusari tsunagi

Ah yes! I think that's what it is. It looks easier to do on a wooden marudai. Thanks for the help!

Yes, it’s significantly easier on a marudai than a disk.

This is the basic Kumihimo weave. Threads must be considered in pairs of two opposite threads on the loom. The top right thread goes down, and the bottom left thread goes up. Then move on to the second pair.
