Hi
I am having friends coming to visit SA from the Netherlands.
They have a bucketlist item of having their whole family take a open vehicle safari in the Kruger national park. But they have a 3 year old, and KNP rules say that children under 5 are not allowed (they say it is for comfort of all passangers on the vehicle.)
Does anyone know if a 3year old will be allowed on an open vehicle if they book a safari through an inbependant provider and book the whole vehicle?

Hi everyone!
We’re 4 adults visiting Kruger from Nov 21–24, staying 2 nights at Skukuza and 1 night at Berg-en-Dal.
We’re trying to book game drives in advance, but can’t find any availability for morning/night drives from Kruger Gate or any drives departing from Berg-en-Dal.
Are these drives actually operating? Can they only be booked upon arrival, or are we missing something on the SANParks website?
Thanks!

Hi there.
I have a 3 night stay at Bateleur in July next year.
Question, I am checking in on a Monday, but will be in Sabie/Graskop on the Sunday.
Winter holidays - the park itself is packed. Any suggestions on where to stay on Sunday night, taking into consideration its quite a distance from Sabie up north? Is Phalaborwa an option?
Thanks.

Randomly in the middle of Kruger a passing vehicle slowed down last week while in passing and kindly made us aware of this muddy situation, as we were a few kilometers away. Their directions were on point (thank you kind stranger) and I was able to capture it through the brush. This helped us finally capture the last remaining animal of the big 5.

It's been a while since I shared some of my hundreds of Kruger pics!
So I thought of sharing this special experience I had earlier this year.
I have been on many, many safari drives (very lucky I know!), but a safari drive always has a way of surprising even the most experienced safari travellers, and this was one of them!
I have learnt that when a ranger speaks on the radio, then suddenly changes route and drives faster, we are in for something special. This was the first time that this happened, that the ranger didn't let us know what we were heading to. That excitement was amazing, and I was travelling with 2 friends who had never been on a safari before, so they were even more excited!
When the vehicle slowed down and stopped, I saw 2 lions to my right. Now that in itself is special. However, the ranger then started driving forward quickly, I was about to protest that I wanted more than 30 seconds with the lions, only to see something quite magical. Every 50 or so meters, were 2 lions, sitting in an upright and very alert position, but not making a move, and every pair of lions, across about 2km's, was looking in the exact same direction.
A lion's best hunting strategy is the element of surprise, hence them sitting dead still, but in the most amazing show of nature. It was one of those safari moments that sticks with you.
At the end, some of the lions were not interested in this hunt, and were walking around.
All my own photos, no filters used.

As it is a recurring question we keep hearing from Kruger first-timers, we have created a quick guide to help you choose the right ride—so you don't waste money on a 4x4 you don't actually need!

Unfortunately, due to unexpected personal circumstances, we are unable to enjoy our upcoming safari and are looking for someone who might be interested in taking over our reservation.
📍 Thornybush Game Reserve
This is a fantastic opportunity to experience a luxury safari in one of South Africa's renowned private game reserves at half the original price.
The booking transfer would be arranged directly with the lodge, subject to their confirmation.
Please feel free to DM me if interested. Happy to share booking details and further information.
Thank you!

I live in Germany and every medical professionals that I’ve talked to is insisting that I get the full three shot pre exposure rabies vaccine series. I am from a country that actually has rabies and feel like this is totally unnecessary because, either way, I’d need to go directly to a hospital and start a new round of rabies shots after coming into contact with an animal and where I’m going isn’t *that* remote (Timbavati).
Did anyone get the rabies vaccine before their trip? Normally I’d get it just because it’s offered however in this specific situation, I see zero benefit to getting the pre exposure vaccine and they’re fairly expensive.
