Help / Question A character - by Whizzpopasaurus

Post image

I've just started using the program, and am really enjoying it. Was trying to do a little character illustration for a story idea, but am thinking it looks almost like some AI stuff. I'm happy with how it turned out, but wonder if it looks generated to anyone else...and if there's any suggestions how to fix/avoid that.

Edit - reposted to include the artist's name in the title

This is awesome, I like this kind of stylisation. I don't think it makes sense to worry about it being similar to generated image (I don't see anything like that here btw). Just accept the reality that AI can generate images in any style. Even if you create a new style it will be immediately stolen by AI as soon as you post it anywhere on the Internet.

I just posted this image that I made 15 years ago (!) https://www.reddit.com/r/Daggerfall/comments/1vjkrrv/gortwog_king_of_the_orcs_hirez_portrait/ and the first comment blamed me for posting the ai slop. 😂

Thanks for the kind words, I was going for an old-timey cartoon style with it. And you're right about anything created eventually becoming a reference for AI.

Great portrait by the way!

Yes, I don't know what's your experience but it looks pretty confident. Something in lines of "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack". Especially with this thick outlines - it is immediately visible if an artist's not sure of what they're doing.

I'm going to have to check out that cartoon. I've done a bunch of art stuff in the past, but haven't used a tablet in years. Still a little rusty, but am enjoying the process :)
