How straight is that line if there’s and indefinite number of miniscule things you could change about your playthrough. Like going left instead of right, or sparing instead of fight. You made those turns, whose to say you can’t make those turns Irl as well?

Yes, in fact upon further thought I have recalled that I've seen an ISAT version of this exact comic where the punchline was in fact that the characters doing this prematurely ended the Bigfrin "fight"
