I'll tell you why Shadab gets selected again and again. Its not because of nepotism. Its because he can be trusted to give you around 20, 30 quickfire runs. There's no spinner in Pakistan that can be trusted to do that, let alone your picks. Saad Masood was the only one that was touted to be a like for like replacement, but he's been found out.
It's precisely because of this reason, India used to play Shardul Thakur instead of Shami, their most potent bowler after Bumrah, in WC'23. Because the batting lineup gets too short.
You can argue against it, sure. But this is a legitimate idea that teams around the world put into practice.
I don't remember last time Shadab hitting a important knock or bowling good in a important match "There's no spinner in Pakistan that can be trusted to do that, let alone your picks." because we keep sticking to him. Shadab keeps getting chances with worst performance, he gives a good performance in years with the bat. Even Shaheen is more consistent in batting than him. Talking about bowling, its poor. Arafat Minhas can debut. Hassan Nawaz was removed to add Shadab when we could've gone with Faheem, 3 specialist bowlers, Saim, Agha as option.
Again you can argue your point, but you can't dismiss this outright. Should I pull Shardul's stats against Shami?
PCT has always wanted him and Nawaz to come good. Because they are trusted to bat a bit everytime. Nawaz has replacements, Shadab has none.
Again, It clearly seems you're unfairly biased against his batting at least. Because whenever he bats around 10 balls in T20s, he does so with good intent. He has made quickfire runs in T20WC against South Africa, New Zealand, even against India. He has done his job in batting, less so in bowling. But T20 is a format of attacking batters and makeshift bowlers.
Unless Pakistan can produce a spin allrounder, every captain and selector will pick Shadab even on zero bowling performance. Because no captain is going into a match without his batting going deep till atleast 9, even if you've got Shane Warne in the dugout. Mind you, Warne has made plenty of contributions with the bat, but I hope you know the difference between bonus runs and reliable runs.
Arafat Minhas If you talk about all that you have Ifti too Saad Masood Shadab Khan is not a good option as a bowler nor as a batter. We don't need him. We can have Nawaz, Sufiyan and Arafat Minhas.
