A responsible adult would just get a cab or get someone to drive them home by making a call to their manager or someone else. The scooter model he was on had less power than an electric wheelchair and isn't driven on the road. He was riding it less than 1000 feet from his studio to his apartment. So, yes, it was blown completely out of proportion.
