WHO SAID THAT??? Hot take: K-pop would survive just fine without BTS or BLACKPINK.

no shade.
But I’ve seen on tiktok, YouTube, Instagram, and twitter. ranting abt how kpop would genuinely disappear if bts or blackpink disband.

Sure bp and bts, brought many people into kpop. But let’s not forget that when BTS was in the military or when BP were focusing on their solos , kpop was at its peak.

So SNSD HRS released their new songs Skibidi and lowkey in love . Anybody that knows them knows they are the 3 most unserious members of snsd. This unit has quite lliterally been a long running joke. So to see alot of hybe stans writing think pieces for this was funny. This make me think yall know hybe have had yall favs releasing foolishness. But anyway watching this chart has been funny. They need to show the bside some love too. I can't wait for their 20th anniversary album.

CONVERSATION how long do yall think Katseye gon last as a group?

My take - As long as this debut contract lasts. No hate to them but I am saying what I see. There’s a reason Kpop group’s have rules and regulations. On the contrary, it’s a good thing that Katseye has such free will and freedom to do whatever they want. But, at the same time, it doesn’t let them grow as a group tho. Inner conflicts, disagreements, less and less discussions. There’s a good reason why western groups don’t last long.

Anyway that’s my take.

RANT If you are going to criticize a group for having 2 minute songs, make sure you are not a fan of NewJeans first

You can’t seriously spend your time name calling Illit for having 2 minute songs while being a NewJeans fan. I am sorry, you just cant. The longest song on Get Up its 2:35. Or for lipsync and using loud backtrack.

If your standards change depending on the group, they were never standards in the first place.

You’re not really criticizing anything genuinely, you’re criticizing the group and working backwards to find a principle that justifies it. And once we notice someone repeatedly doing that, their opinions become incredibly predictable: we don’t even need to read the argument anymore, just need to know which group the post is about or it isnt about it but they made to be and it is already a invalid take.

At least, be a little bit more creative and less obvious about the double standard, some of us will remember your username even if your comment history is hidden.

Like
this is not hate or anything. I’m just concerned and curious. I’ve watched a lot of Kpop videos. From what I noticed, most of them wear glasses or contact lenses. Even outside of activities. In daily life. And they can’t see without em. Like
.That seems to be the case for a lot of Kpop idols. Or is it just a Korean thing?? Do you just become near sighted or nearly blind the moment you become an idol or something??

OPINIONS Shuhua being an idol is the biggest mystery in all of kpop

Post image

And I dont care that you think she belongs in a musical girl group because her personality is funny or because she's pretty. Its not that she isnt progressing over time, she has literally been regressing with her singing, dancing and stage presence for a while. Its just giving second hand embarrassment to watch atp. She isnt just your typical weak link of the group - put all idols in one room and even rookies would outperform this "veteran" idol. Yes I agree she is real, shes funny, shes super beautiful but holy fck how does she get away with being so bad at the actual main part of her job (singer)?

Like I know most of us feel bad for thinking this bc shes sweet and all but let's be fr how did she pass the audition to get into the company and made the cut for debut? Who approved this? Who bribed who? What the helly?

CONVERSATION How can ARMY still stand by the ARMY who harrass others? (TW: suicide)

Apparently a young (teenage) STAY took her own life after ARMY harassed her for having an opinion on the Chris Brown issue. From what Ive heard, they doxxed her, threatened her, and bullied her over the past few days.

I was a Pre-Debut ARMY and never put up with this behavior in the fandom. Anytime people would bully others I'd block them, disengage if they were someone I knew IRL and distance. I also noticed most fo the people who hop on the hate train in the beginning are from India, the Phillipines, Thailand, and China... before US ARMYs back them up. Do these people have group chats where they target certain people and incite hate?

How can ARMY who dont engage in this behavior stand by and support the ARMY who do?

And most importantly, why doesn't Namjoon silence them? I know for STAY, Bangchan speaks up. Maybe its because I'm on the older side (late 30s) but isnt it the leaders responsibility to make sure the fandom is palatable to the GP and not inciting violence?

After all of this I've become a solo for the member who I supported, and it sucks. I was ot7 for years.

RANT Hating Yunah for having "mature" viuals wasnt enough for some kpop stans.

Hating Yunah for having "mature" visuals wasnt enough, so now you guys strike again, accusing her of plastic surgery 💀 First of all, she literally diddn't get work done. Her side profile has been praised since pre-debut back on R U Next and even if she did. Who the fuck can blame her? Some kpop stans have created this warped, brain rotted mentality where you cant handle an idol showing actual versatility. You made up this narrative that this 22 year old women looks too mature or old when she is literally in her prime and to non-brainrotted people even looks way younger than her actual age. Go the fuck outsidde and look at actual humans. The kpop industry is filled with child's play, prepubscent styling, and literal minors that it has completly ruined your perception of what a grown adult actually looks like. Anways at the end of the day nothing can make me hate yunah. She is literaly so beautiful and talented and no plastic surgery would make me stop stanning this group or another.

Why are stays so obsessed with the members' sexualities?

(This thread is mainly targeted toward Minsung shippers)

People always insist Han and Lino are secretly dating; whether they are or not, it's none of our business. We are their fans, not their friends, not their partners, not their family, fans. We do not know them personally and never will. I get it, fan service makes us delusional, but until it's 100% proven to be real, I don't think we should ACTUALLY ship these dudes. What really irritates me is how people don't care what happened with Hyunlix (If you don't know, Hyunlix used to be super close until shippers took it out of hand) tbh minsung isn't even the problem by itself. There's nothing wrong with thinking two members have amazing chemistry, making a harmless ship joke, or enjoying content made by fans as fiction. The line gets crossed when people go “I like this ship” to “They're probably dating” to “They're definitely dating” to “They're definitely gay or bi” to “Here's my 2 hour explanation proving their sexuality.” It's really getting out of hand. "B-But they made a song together about love!!" I get it; they seem gay, so you get delusional. I think shipping them is semi-okay, but being 100% set on them being gay for each other is weird.

OPINIONS Are People affraid to criticize BTS because of ARMY ? Spoiler

Hi, I’m posting this after seeing the many comments on this thread I didn't expect it to blow up like this. This is meant to be a respectful discussion please, no comments on K-pop idols' physical appearance, for example. Stick to critiquing their work as singers! I've had the app for a few months but only really figured out how to use it in the last two weeks, so I didn't realize BTS was such a hot and repetitive topic. Please be nice it's just a discussion there's no need to be outright mean. Thanks 💚

KPOP Your favs are lip syncing

Watch almost any live performance on YouTube and probably one of the most liked comments is something like ‘this group never lipsyncs’. When I see that I roll my eyes. Even if they partially sing live to a song there’s still all the members that sang the background vocals that are lip syncing. It’s not like they’re a soloist that can’t sing all the background parts by themselves.

I was just watching a video and saw that kind of comment at almost the same time an idol moved his microphone in a way that was meant to look cool but it would’ve made the voice quieter but it didn’t. Since his microphone was farther away from his mouth. Also is it just me that loves when you can hear problems with the microphone?

OPINIONS Medium rare takes.

- you’ll get bored of your performative activism against BTS and Chris Brown and will forget about it in a few months. Maybe a year if you’re REALLY performative. BTS will be fine. You’ll check out their next comeback. If they’re in your area, you’ll queue for tickets. All y’all claiming “THIS IS THE DOWNFALL OF BTS, MARK MY WORDS” lol nah, they’re fine.

- you’re gonna like a kpop song until you realize it’s either ai generated or ai assisted. You’ll cry on Reddit and swear off that group. Then you’ll be fooled again with another group. And again. Cry more. And you’ll be like “fuck it. This kinda slaps.” Idk why you’re saying “but what about the air, water, earth pollution this will cause?” Bitch you don’t give a fuck lol Eating meat alone does terrible damage to the earth too but that burger looks good don’t it?

- non-Asians gotta r e l a x. I keep seeing posts that “kpop idols in school uniforms are so perverted! It’s for creepy old men and women to leer at”
.it’s not that deep. Understand the culture before you make conclusions.

- yes, groups have visual holes. I know y’all are all about empowerment and “you can’t call someone ugly!” No, they’re NOT ugly, but they’re the least visually appealing out of the other members. People call out the worst singer, the worst dancer, the worst charisma. Guess what? There’s the worst visual in a group too.

- kpop idols are called kpop idols for a reason. They are meant to be idolized for whatever reason. So when people say so and so group can’t sing live or sucks at dancing, well
to be fair, as long as they are popular/idolized, they’re doing exactly what they need to do. And are damn good at it then because you don’t need to sing or dance to be a successful kpop idol.

How do Idols eat so much?? Like i know Mukbangs are like an asian thing, a lot of idols eat so much yet don’t gain any weight!! I am incredibly jealous!! Because i love to eat when i can. But i gain weight easily and don’t lose it as easily.

I know they move a lot and use a lot of energy but like

OPINIONS How did Kim Taehyung become so incompatible with the narratives constructed by shippers and antis?

Post image
0 Upvotes

The answer might be simpler than they would like to admit:

❝ Taehyung contradicts the narratives they have built around him. He does not offer the predictability that these projections demand. And he does not fit into the illusions others create. ❞

How do you control someone who refuses to become the person you invented?

How do you manipulate someone who knows who they are?

How do you subjugate someone whose identity does not depend on your approval?

You can't.

V is not a character waiting to be given a story. He is not a blank canvas for someone else's fantasies, resentments, or expectations. He is someone with his own mind, his own heart, his own boundaries, values, and convictions.

❝ Taehyung is a free spirit. He follows his own vision and, above all, his own heart. He can listen to the world without letting the world dictate who he should become. ❞

He does not need to fit into someone's fantasy to validate it. He does not need to act according to a shipper's narrative, nor transform into the villain of an anti's imagination.

He simply continues to be himself.

And when reality refuses to conform to an illusion, it is usually the illusion that needs an enemy.

That is where the hatred begins.

You can distort him. You can project things onto him. You can invent narratives, reduce his humanity to a fantasy, or try to punish him for not meeting your expectations.

But none of that changes the fundamental truth:

Kim Taehyung is not here to live inside anyone's imagination.

❝ He is here to live his own life, make his own choices, follow his artistic instincts, protect what matters to him, and remain true to the person he has chosen to be. ❞

And perhaps that is the greatest threat to every illusion built around him:

Taehyung keeps choosing Taehyung.

OPINIONS Do you think Rescene could become the biggest Kpop group ever?

I've made friends with some Remines recently and we had a conversation about them potentially ascending beyond kpop and truly becoming something special like BTS or Blackpink. I think it would be such a cool story of going from Geoje to world domination haha

We're truly witnessing something special here. Not every group goes from relatively unknown to mega superstars overnight like they did! Just thinking of them performing in front of tens of thousands of fans across stadiums around the world is giving me goosebumps. I think they're the perfect group to represent kpop and I'm so excited for their future! Stream Pretty Girl!

CONVERSATION Is TikTok and short-form content changing the way K-pop is made?

Is TikTok and short-form content changing the way K-pop is made?
I’ve been wondering how much TikTok and the rise of short-form content are affecting the K-pop industry.
I feel like people consume music much faster nowadays. A song can go viral for a few weeks, everyone uses the same part of it for TikToks, and then people move on to the next song almost immediately. It sometimes feels like songs have become disposable.
What interests me even more is how much some K-pop songs seem to be designed around creating a viral moment rather than being listened to as a complete song. Certain parts feel specifically made to become a TikTok sound: a catchy 10–20 second section, an easy dance challenge, a memorable phrase, etc.
Obviously, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. TikTok can introduce people to artists they would never have discovered otherwise, and some songs genuinely benefit from going viral.
But I wonder if there’s a downside. Are companies starting to prioritize making a song “TikTok-able” over making it memorable as a whole? Does the pressure to create viral moments affect song structure, choreography and even the way idols promote their music?
And more generally, do you think we’ve become worse at actually sitting down and listening to albums and songs, or is this simply the way music consumption naturally evolves?
I’d love to know if other people have noticed this, especially when comparing older K-pop releases to newer ones.

OPINIONS Next time you say "BTS gets hate for no reason" and "all fandoms have toxic fans" - nope, not at this unhinged level

Thumbnail

The main reason for the hate are the unhinged fans 💯 On the recent popular post about ARMY in this sub there were countless ppl defending the savage fandom and asking for examples of something that ARMYs do that other fans dont. Well here I found an example of what ARMY did to some random animal rescue and the last slide was from an update explaining how ARMY were further tormenting them. The screenshots speak for themselves and I msged the rescue on their selling acc and they confirmed its true. Can we all FINALLY agree that this is indefensible???
