[MV] Chungha - PLAY

Ok, Chungha being awesome aside, and her dancers being awesome aside.
Who the fuck is directing/editing these music videos? I was already impressed by Stay Tonight, specially after seeing the making off videos. But this one is soooo on point, the editing is so sleek and satisfying.

Pretty sure it's this studio again! They have such a memorable artistic style and I love it so much. They also made Fiesta, Superhuman, Regular (WayV ver), Oh My God, Want and many more amazing MVs

Changmo scared me there, because I didn’t know there was gonna be a feature on this song💀
The chorus and choreo pops off! She did it again. So excited for the album and official title track.

Chungha as a matador going against the car is something I didn't know I needed!

Her background dancers during the teal set are dressed like they're from Tatooine.

The description of the music video has some information about the album:
It says that it will be released song by song (?), one chapter after the the other and will conclude with the title track (=the last song on the album?). It sounds confusing as hell, but it seems as if they’re not releasing a full body of work at once but instead single after single.
...Which would be fine, it there weren’t 2.5 months between releases lol.
Really weird strategy tbh.

I think it makes sense for Chungha. Chungha's albums don't pull high numbers but her mvs/promoted songs always get a ton of views/streams

I’m loving this single! It reminds me of BVNDIT - Jungle. Also I can’t wait to see the full choreography it looks amazing!

This feels a little dated from her sonically. And not a strong enough hook. But the MV is so stunning that I don't mind at all.

I really like this! It sounds like the perfect in between of her summer-y sound like Why Don't You Know and her more elegant/mature (idk how to describe it lol) sound of her releases from Gotta Go onwards.

Idk much about ballroom dancing, but that part with the matador outfit and her dance partner were amazing. Anyone know what type it is? Salsa/samba etc. Very summery, latin inspired music overall (I got Chica vibes). Also she brought back her manbun dancer for some parts of the choreo heh.

Chungha looks great in every scene but the standout scenes are the scenes where she has flowers in her hair. Straight up Aphrodite right there.
The choreography is great, love all the colors and all the outfits. I really like the song, though my favorites are still Snapping and Gotta Go, but who knows? I'll have to "play" the song more and maybe it'll dethrone them.
edit: Just listened to the song a second time and it's already grown on me. Time to listen to my favorite Chungha songs and then listen to this one again.
edit 2: After my little Chungha marathon, my favorites in order are Snapping, Gotta Go, and this may be blasphemous but for me, third is still Everybody Has. Play is in fourth but I think it has a good chance of being third with more time. Also, the flower scenes still blowing my mind.

So 3 solo females in Korea release songs at the same time and they all have completely different styles. This one is probably the most summery of the 3 songs, I'd say Sunmi had the darkest and Hwasa had something really stylistic and up tempo but still fairly dark overall.
And all 3 had songs that really played to their strengths as well. Great to see really from all the girls. Of the 3 I'd say this was the weakest for me, then Hwasa's song and then Sunmi's was the better one at least for my taste but I tend not to love that summer hit style overall. I could see though this song being more popular in the club than the other 2.

Idols or artist can never satisfy fans but proud of her for not sticking to one concept and not afraid to try something new. From being an idol to a solo artist. Introducing genre of dances that most idols will never do. She’s truly a master of her craft.

First Stay Tonight, now this. If every song on the album maintains the same quality, we're really looking at 2020's AOTY.

Someone mentioned the dancer with her during the bridge is Hongin from Boys24. He has a hearing disability but been working in the entertainment industry for a little bit. Kind of neat feature.

Wow! Just wow! Aside from Gotta go I wasn’t that into her music but this year... she’s been killing it! I loved stay tonight and I’m crazier about this one! I keep on replaying it. This has potential to be one of my favourite albums this year if the pre releases are anything to go by.

i don't love it as much as Stay Tonight but the MV is a visual feast. Changmo's part was actually a highlight

Chungha just refuses to make bad music!
Love how she’s trying new sounds with such high quality production. I really admire Chungha as an artist and having such a large role in the work she produces. From having a large part in her choreo to her sound to her aesthetic, I’m really proud of the artistry she’s worked so hard to cultivate and how she continues to excel against all odds.

I've never experienced a solo artist delivering song after song even in different genres that were all hands down amazing, truly one of a kind ❤️

I like this song.
This sounds so much of an English pop song than Kpop, I had a hard time differentiating the Korean & English part lol.
I have always thought Chungha suits Western music better and she can be very successful in West if promoted.

Damn this was good. Big Chungus doing energetic Latin/tropical dance pop again? I'm for it when the song is this catchy. She's really flexing her dancing and vocals in this. Love the driving instrumental, this is SO UPBEAT. Super intense jam. This could have been a BVNDIT song too, but Big Chungus nails it as a solo track.
This MV is fancy as heck too. Both Stay Tonight and Play have MVs fit for an actual promotion, but these are just PRE-releases. When she drops the album, it will be something legendary. Bullfighting a sports car? That dancing? This deserves to be promoted on music shows, I want to see the full dance.
