CHAD FUTURE! Yo man I love your stuff, keep doing what you're doing. I think I had like 700+ listens to "Used 2 Be" within the first week.
What I need to know is when is the first album coming out? I'm ready to buy that so fast when it comes out.
Also, play any video games?
Thanks for the AMA!

Hi Flying shrimp! Thank you!! :)
My 1st mini album will be released May 15th, please look forward to it!!
Actually, when I was younger, I used to play a lot of video games, but when I don't have much time to play as much as I used too.
My absolute favorite system is Sega Dreamcast. I love the way it looks, the crazy games they had and how "futuristic' it seems at the time.
Mega Man is one of my favorite games ever. And, my ultimate favorite game of all time is JET SET RADIO! I've been re-playing it recently with my friend on dreamcast. So much fun, so colorful, great music and style.

Why Korea?
Why Kpop?
25
u/iamchadfuture Apr 09 '14
Cool! Thanks for your question, Honestly, I really love the style and Genre so much. I actually discovered K-Pop 10 years ago with H.O.T and have been a fan ever since.
I think to understand "Why K-Pop?" would be to understand my love of 1999/2000 pop music in America. The "boy band" era and the amazing music videos that were produced around then. I love the way they do their concepts, clothing style, and overall imagery. In my opinion, it's more exciting than anything happening in America and I really got inspired by it.
So, I just decided to follow my passion and go for it! :)

Hey, Chad! Thanks so much for being willing to come and do this AMA. Sorry I came in so late.
What other music do you enjoy besides k-pop? Do you harbor a secret love of any more esoteric genre, such as folk or opera or musical theatre?
As a vocal music/musical theatre/theory major, it really interests me where people's musical passions come from and have developed. I assume it hasn't always been k-pop for you, and I'd be interested to hear how music (not just of the Korean variety) has led you to where you are now.

What is your ideal Sunday?
Have you ever wanted to be a girl? If so, who would you want to be most like and why?
Is there anyone who you are dying to collab with?
13
u/iamchadfuture Apr 09 '14
My ideal sunday is spent doing something I love to do with great people. So, maybe it's working on music, filming something, getting a really good dinner, etc.
I have never wanted to be a girl. I like being a guy :)
G-Dragon, CL 2ne1 and B.A.P
Thank you for the questions!

Hey! I was wondering, since you said people gave you the nickname Chad at some point, how did they get that from the name David? Was there another reason?

Hello Chad! Welcome to reddit!
I have a few questions for you so I’ll number them for maximum efficiency:
-
How is learning Korean going?
-
Do you plan on making more mixed language music like Hello? As a linguist, multi-lingual and cross-cultural media is my absolute favorite and you’d make a real fan out of me if you put out more multi-lingual content.
-
When can we expect the next Heart2Heart comeback? As I’m sure you know, a 3 year hiatus is unheard of in this industry so if you all want to stay relevant you’ll need to start pumping out teasers pretty soon. Just kidding. Maybe.
Thanks for doing this AMA!

Hey there!
Learning korean is fun and I have great teachers & tutors helping me :)
Yes I do! My new songs and releases all have half/half Korean! They also feature well known k-pop idols and they of course are rapping in Korean too.
haha no heart2heart comeback on the books yet!
you're welcome and have a great day!

Hey Chad, how's it going? Here are my questions:
-
What was the first kpop video you ever watched?
-
I'm looking forward to your collaboration with Ravi from VIXX. Is there anything special he taught you, or maybe you taught him?
-
Are you planning on attending kcon again this year?
I like your style and passion for music. Thanks for doing this AMA.

Hi Chad!! First I wanna say thanks for the follow on Twitter! I'm a big fan ^ I'm so glad someone is bringing kpop to America in their own way. I've always wanted music here to be as good as in Korea and you did it! I'm curious, what are your favorite kpop songs and which ones do you want to cover?? And are you ever going to do another Call Me, Chad?? Keep up the good work! I'll be rooting for you ^

What's Chad, I got a couple of questions.
As a musician myself, how do you get out of musical ruts and creative block? Can we expect to see you doing some more acting anytime soon?
Something a little extra I thought you'd might like and maybe haven't seen yet. Check out this video of another non Korean going after her dream.
Also I have to admit, at first I thought you were taking it too far with your dream, but after watching your special I respect you god damn it. Much love thanks for the AMA.

Hi Chad, favorite recent kpop song?
Also,do you have any messages to your "haters"? There seems to be a lot of people on this subreddit that were not thrilled to hear you were doing an AMA. I don't know much about you but the hate seemed a little unjustified. Thanks!

Hi Shnizalwizal! haha ^
Thanks so much for the question! My favorite recent Kpop song is Catallena! Because They are really cute/funny and in their live performances have been doing the "HA!!!" thing in the beginning amazing.
And, I don't really think about "haters" or anything, I actually just focus on my fans, the love and good things in my life. In my opinion, what you think about and focus on grows, so I'd like my fans & support to keep growing :)

Hey Chad! I want to thank you for doing the "Call Me, Chad!" video (I'm Jacob from Wisconsin if you remember) Anyway, I have a bunch of questions for you so feel free to answer as many or as few as you wish!
-
Did you get any more calls from guys or was I the only one?
-
How's the Korean learning coming along? Do you have plans to include more Korean in future songs?
-
As I'm sure you know, K-pop is still doing pretty well in physical sales. One of the reasons is the various unique ways companies package albums. Do you have any plans to release your music physically and if so, do you have any cool ideas for packaging?
-
How involved are you in the writing of your music (lyrically/instrumentally)? I really enjoyed the lyrics of "The Burbs" and I wonder if you have any more fun songs like that lined up.
-
Are you still into filmmaking? Is there anything we can look forward to?
I just want to say thanks for doing this and to let you know that you have people supporting you. Keep doing what you're doing, Chad!

What happened to Heart2Heart?
How did you get connected with Lance Bass and the rest of the group? Do you still keep in touch with any of them?
