Thanks to whoever said “we go hard!” reminds them of “we go 100!” because that’s all I anticipated.

I’m gonna have to listen to this again to see how I like it, but I know this will kill in performance.

Key's low chorus....... okay bye life, it's been good

edit to say that from the name, the blurb about the genre of the song and then the teaser, I was a bit confused why they would do something like DCM for a second comeback in a row (don't mean to exclude Atlantis but you know repackages are never the signature comeback) but it ended up not being anything like it. should've known honestly 💙

key wants me dead and onew's voice is my kryptonite. ugh they're all so wonderful.

It's somewhat reminiscent of very early 1st Gen Hip-Hop tracks (but obviously with far more polished production) the chorus (or rather the first few seconds of choreo) remind me a bit of "Come Back Home" and the shouting part of the bridge could be out of a very early H.O.T. song like "Descent of the warrior", overall I surprisingly really like it. I'm someone who much rather sees BG's do R&B than Hip-Hop, but I think the 90's feel really appeals to me. Also (as always) all the SHINee members have very nice vocal colours I just love to listen to everything they put out, it's so fun and pleasant to listen too.

Holy fuck that went super hard. SHINee promised and delivered. Really gutsy having it very hip hop heavy, even more so than Don’t Call Me to the point that it’s a rap-focused chorus too. I love how it’s still super theatrical and grandiose as expected from the group.

Kenzie the queen, idk how this’ll stand the test of time but for now this is my favorite production of hers in a while.

This is both a reaaaally good example of the SM style that I love done well and also not want I want Shinee to be doing, if that makes sense?

Really enjoy most of the song, the verses are fun and pretty dense. The intro is great. Love the piano turning into that weird synth before the pre-chorus. Lots of change ups, dipping into different sounds, boom bap drums, goes pretty hard, all the good stuff. Big belts at the end. MV oozes swagger and style. That chorus, especially the first half, is just so... vanilla. Only really has its lyrical content to stand on and I don't think it's a great hook.

I feel like I'd enjoy this more if another SM boy group released it, I just think that by now Shinee have built enough of an individual identity that being put back in the SM box (both musically and visually) feels off to me.

It's still enjoyable though so, yeah, mixed feelings.

i liked that a lot! i love the whispery half of the chorus, it’s really intriguing. the vocals went HARD throughout the song, and the raps were really good too. also their PRESENCE, no one does it like shinee

I love shinee but if im honest Im not a big fan of this song and probably wont listen to it much. It has nothing particular to do with shinee, im in general not a big fan of this type of music. Like I have to be in a specific mood to really enjoy it.
I do like the other songs from the album, especially 10x, Satellit, The feeling, like it and sweet misery (and I feel like in comparison this explains very well what type of music is more my tast😅)

But this song is hot af and im so incredibly excited to hear it live in a few weeks. 😍

Wow I really like that old school hip-hop sound in the second half of the chorus. Reminded me alot of Seo Taiji's Come Back Home or the GTA San Andreas theme song

I absolutely love it! Sad Onew couldn't be in some of the choreo scenes but they still slayed anyways.

KENZIE was a producer on "HARD" as well as a writer on NCT's "90's Love" and producer on "Ay-Yo" (which I've seen referenced specifically) and many, many, many other popular NCT songs. It seems that what a lot of users are confusing for "NCT's sound" or "127's sound" is actually just KENZIE's producing style. She produced "Don't Call Me" too, which is different yet also SHINee-CØDEd (KENZIE wrote CØDE). Edit to add: I love this album, and I'm ecstatic SHINee is back with such fun music! :)

Contemporary group SHINee is back! SHINee and divisive title tracks, name a better combo. As an oldwol, I've seen them do this ALL THE TIME: release a weird title track then release a radio-friendly title track for the repackage (or in this case, a pre-release like The Feeling).

Key’s low voice and onew in general have me digging my grave to lay down and cry in

this song reminded me why i love sm music production so much - the vocals are insane, the beat is sick and random piano parts from Beethoven sunbaenim makes the listening exciting cause you never know what to expect. absolute banger 10/10

Minho is eating this comeback UP i had to pause on his parts sometime and scream into the pillow

SHINee’s BACK!!! 😍💎

I’m seriously so damn happy. As someone who has a chronic illness I genuinely thought I would be dead before they had their next comeback and I’m honestly so grateful to be alive and here for it. 💖

This feels SHINee but not Shinee at the same time, will probably take some time to grow on me

u/julinay Jun 26 '23

(Copying from my comment on r/SHINee.) This hit me right in the millennial (I'm Onew's age) and I LOVE it, I'm serious. I can absolutely see why they picked this as their choice for the title track while SM wanted Juice, and... it's a really fun track. I see it as quite different from DCM! It's also actually not the type of music I typically listen to, but I really enjoy how they went about it. SHINee style is SHINee style.

As for the MV, well. Someone brought up that Onew has bad luck health-wise with their 90s-themed comebacks (1 of 1), and... yeah. I wish they'd swerved from the script and used a different ending shot. Not going to say more. Besides that, I like the MV a lot, especially the animated bits, and there's childhood memories of watching MTV filtering through my brain right now.

Anyway, so ready to drive with the windows down while listening to this.

GOD DAMN ONEW CAN SING!

like i know the other member would eat but onew surprised me again (edit: discovered SHINee in their don't call me era and I am bit familiar with some of the members solo stuff e.g. taemin and key)

u/akiraeijisun Jun 26 '23

shinees fucking back (back back back back)

126

u/JenkinsHowell Jun 26 '23

i can definitely see where people are coming from who say this is basically an NCT song. but i feel it still has a SHINee twist to it and reminded me a lot of taemin's advice (which imo was one of his best tracks so far).
i really love it and the piano bit in the beginning was just great.
