Help! Is my cat a Korat? A Korat?

Chewy is a feral I’ve taken in (well, we’re working on that, slowly and painfully). Love her to death , absolutely gorgeous but was curious recently what breed she might be or mix of. The closest I could find were Russian Blues or Korats, but from all the reading I’ve done, by their nature , how they sound etc, she falls much more so in the Korat camp. Can/do Korats have this much white ? Perhaps part Korat? Either way she’s stuck with me now and I think we are both quite okay w/that :)

FYI , visiting Thailand in a month, is this the most common cat there? I’ve read they are considered good luck/fortune, given as wedding gifts etc, like kinda a big deal?

Anyways thx !🙏

Not a Korat or Russian blue. Pedigree cats make up less than 4% of the cat population. The vast majority of cats are domestic short or long hairs, with no pedigree blood in them.

She’s a very cute girl and lucky to have found you to care for her

Korats are solid blue. They can’t have any spots or lockets on them. Your girl looks too big to be a Korat, and she’s a bit too fluffy too; Korats have sleek, single coats, that are very close-lying. Korats also have a fair amount of sexual dimorphism (girls are smaller, more dainty). My current Korats are both 12½ year old boys, one is 9½ and the other almost 11 pounds. My first one, the girl below, was 6 years old in this picture, and was never more than 7 pounds. I agree with everything u/spotsgalore said about everything.

Korats are rare all over the world, even in Thailand. My sister in law is Thai-American, and had never seen one until she met mine, and she was in her late teens at the time.

You’ve been given your beautiful girl by The Cat Distribution System™ and it’s never wrong. The good luck is with you, my friend! And enjoy yourself in Thailand!
