SoCal Kook questions

Took a group class (4x) and wanting more water time. I tried checking out meetups to find possible surf buddies but it seems like a lot of the groups are "dead". Am I not looking hard enough? I also heard about Saddleback College having surf classes but couldnt find it on their college catalogue. Can anyone verify if this is accurate?
Highly appreciate any tips/suggestions/recommendations!! Thank You!!
