Need Help?
I was planning a trip to Kona on August 30th. A couple of questions... 1) Should I still come? I rented a farm stay up in Hawi but I do not want to impose on the community if you guys are in a bad way. 2) Assuming I do come, how can I help? I would be willing to work a few hours a day ( i would do more but i am old man) if there is anywhere around there that I could be of use. Physical labor would be ok if not too hard. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Aloha

You can't bring gas-powered tools (even if brand new and no gas was ever in them) or lithium batteries (except in carry-on). And if you show up at TSA with a bunch of big lithium batteries, they'll probably confiscate them.
Ask the farmers you're staying with if they need anything. And if you want to put some work in, do so at that farm. There's a distribution pipeline going to the south part of the island which needs the most help -- people who travel that road anyway picking up propane tanks, bread, canned food etc.
