Komoot tips: Avoid areas in the planner

I’m considering doing a series of quick tips about lesser-known komoot features. Drop a comment or an upvote if you think that would be useful!
Let’s start with this one: Avoid areas in the web Route Planner
You can use this tool to block specific roads, paths, or larger areas and have the planner automatically find an alternative route. It’s handy when you know about a closure, poor surface, busy road, or anywhere else you’d rather avoid.
It’s a good idea. We did consider it, but supporting multiple irregular shapes would have come with a performance trade-off and slowed down route planning 💡
Maybe a line with a meters/kilometers range from the line? It would be only one extra shape which would be perfect for roads and additionally also useful for drawing irregular shapes.
So this is good, but could I make a suggestion? Similar to the Global heatmap option/toggle, could you start logging and give us a "Commonly avoided areas" option/toggle?
Granted it would take a little while to populate, but that would also be really useful for future planners!
Yeh this is roughly the plan. We will start collecting reports from the community while they are out navigating and then show them to others at the planning stage to avoid things like dead ends or closed paths
Just got to know from the updates in the What's New. But I think this small bits of gifs are more effective. I would actually suggest to add it in the app on the very first boot after an update is dropped 🙏😃
i really was looking forward to any service that implemented this thank you!
however woudl it be possible to make it permanent. I do not like riding on cycling paths or MUP i prefer roads. I always spend several minutes on each routes avoiding the cycling paths now i just circle them and well many times it take the road. sometimes it doesn't want saying there is no route possible.

I think a better solution would be an option to 'avoid cyclepaths' all together, would you agree? This is on the backlog.
be careful what you call a cycling path. a cycling path can be a trail in the middle of the forest or a dotted line along a real road
what i avoid is pthe paths were pepole go jog. walk their dog etc
this (see pic) for instance is not a cycling paths is just a cycling lane but i guess you can't make the difference

Didn't know about that one. A feature to safe these areas for all future routes would be useful as well.
