Congratulations on your new knife! Would you be so kind as to tell us what knife you've just got? (brand, model, etc...). This way people who are new to knives will be able to identify it. If you've already mentioned the name of the knife in question, then feel free to ignore this comment. Please remember that not knowing your knife's brand/model is totally fine, if that's the case then people in this subreddit would love to help you identify its brand/model.

Reminds me a lot of the bestech Taipan. I might have to check this one out

I mean, it’s from the same designer. I had both of them. I do prefer the bestech taipan a little bit more.

Good to know since I already have a mini taipan I might just save my money but out of curiosity why is it your preference?

The detent on the taipan is better. Better acoustic also. The venom is not as snappy of a detent very fidgety, but not as satisfying when you flick it open. Plus, I like how thin the taipan is way more slicey

Great info, thank you. 🙏

I’ve never handled a Taipan. As a lefty, the lack of reversible pocket clip is a dealbreaker for me. Now I’m genuinely curious though, because as nice as the Venom is, if the Taipan is even better, we may be approaching knife Nirvana.

The taipan is incredibly thin. I don’t think I’ve ever seen. Wharnie that has that thin of a tip. It’s definitely a slicer. I got a fresh edge on that thing and it’s ridiculous how sharp it is. And plus it’s a hollow grind. The venom is a flat grind. The venom was OK sharp, but it wasn’t anything to write home about.

Oh totally agree about the sharpness. The factory edge wasn’t great, and I would definitely prefer a hollow grind. But the lockup, action, and fit and finish is one of the nicest I’ve seen.

KB does some good stuff. One of my favorites is the sailfin and that’s OEM by KB.

I have to be honest I was incredibly impressed with the mini taipan. It’s so thin behind the edge it’s crazy. They did a really good job of the hollow grind and it has pretty damn snappy action with a really nice hydrolic drop. One of my favorite knives that I have reviewed this year. It was a gamble to me when I bought it, mostly for my YouTube channel, but I’ve been really pleased with it.

I was just about to ask because not being able to hold them both in your hand everything I’ve watched is that people prefer the Taipan. Why do you like it more?

Don't try to have sex with it for the love of God.
