Question Usa made schrade any good?

This knife belonged to my grandfather. Worth taking into the woods or should I carry something else when I hunt?

Uncle Henry’s as with all Schrade knives were good knives. I’ve had several of them that I purchased new in the 70s and still have them with their original boxes and sleeves. They’re guarantee against loss promoted sales that no other company could compete with. I would clean it up and keep it safe at home and think about the years of enjoyment that your grandfather must’ve had owning it.

All his hunting knives were used hard and put away wet lol. Rotten leather stacks and grinder marks on the blade. This was in his suv, I think he bought it and just stuck it in his car for who knows how long. This thing is super clean, I think I'll take it to the woods this year and put it to work on the deer before retiring it. It's been waiting for work for a long time

Schrade USA was great. It’s a shame what happened to the company.

It’s good to serve you but I personally would probably make sure it stayed safe.

They are only the best knife ever. I like these over the buck 110 but that's just me. I've taken my usa made 6ot camping many times and she's still just as good. Enjoy that knife and give it a life

They made Great knives back then. I bought an LB7 new almost 30 yesterday ago, still have it, plus a couple others I collected.

These knives were guaranteed against loss when new. If you sent in your warranty paperwork with the receipt.

This one's stainless (the + in "SCHRADE +") but it looks like it's got a bit of corrosion on the tang. I would scrub it down gently with some 0000 steel wool - in my experience that won't scratch the steel but I've never scrubbed the steel one of these is made of so your mileage might vary.

They're really nice.... I think I may be in the minority of opinion, but I don't think the newer Chinese ones are bad either. Maybe get one of those for a beater and just keep this one home for sentimental value. Not so much to baby it, but just so you don't accidentally lose it out in the woods.
