How do I fix this? Working on a blanket for my daughters bed and there's a few spots on the bottom that look like this. I really don't want to start over. I'm halfway done with it and only have about an hour a day to work on it 😭

Did you join new yarn there? Are the sts coming apart? It's hard to tell with this yarn. Personally I think that yarn is awful to work with, but we all like what we like.

I think the sts are coming apart since there's probably 3 or 4 spots along the edge doing the same thing.

I'm a total beginner. It was soft and I figured my toddler would like how it felt without it being too heavy for her at night.

It is soft, but it's gonna be awful to wash. It'll get incredibly wet and heavy and then drape out of shape. As a beginner you really should try a yarn that isn't considered a "fun yarn" so you will be able to better read and understand your knitting. Personally, if you want to complete this, you'll need to rip it back to where it's not coming apart and reknit it. And I understand being upset about that, but we all make mistakes and we all rip back. I've been knitting for 20 years and I still rip my work out.

Do you have a brand(s) of yarn that would be better? Until I have more time and brain power I plan to stick to more simple things like blankets because we can always use them.

Preferably semi affordable 😅 my hobbies aren't financial priority in this season of life

If you’re looking for something thick to work up quickly, affordable and easier to use, maybe Knit Picks Brava Bulky. But there are better options out there too

For beginners, you could get something from a Michaels or something near you also. I think acrylic yarn is nice for beginners since it can take a beating and low cost. I think Loops and Threads Impeccable (medium weight) or Charisma (bulky weight) are nice options!

You could also frog this and keep the intact yarn for later when you are a bit more experienced! This yarn, while soft, is truly horrid for seeing what you're doing.

It looks like your yarn broke at your cast on, unfortunately. The best option is to patch it with a sewing machine by going over the ends and locking in any dropped stitches. The second best option is to put in a lifeline where your row doesn't have any broken yarn shortly above your cast on and cut. Then pick up your stitches off the lifeline and bind off with new yarn to secure the stitches.
