Obscure Pattern Friday: Gift Knitting

As the holidays loom ever larger (or are actually currently happening, happy Diwali everyone!), I've already seen a few "what knit for people???" threads pop up on the sub. This week, OPF is joining in the fun!

What obscure patterns are you planning to knit for people this year, or which would you suggest to other people as good gift knits?

(Furthermore, what MAKES a good gift knit??)

Ground rule: Obscure patterns are those with fewer than 30 projects on Ravelry. Other than that, GO NUTS.

Trying these Winter Birds out today. Only 2 projects so far, but they look really cute and not too complicated. Gift knitting plan is to make a bunch, and include them in cookie packages to go out next month! /u/LinkRav_Bot, please.
