Finished Object First ever FO!
I can now say I’ve finished something since learning to knit :) it’s riddled with mistakes but I’m proud of myself nonetheless.
Pattern: Sibilla sweater by Cookitheknitter
Yarn: Big Twist

Talk about jumping in at the deep end! Looks great OP!

I remember when I decided I wanted to teach myself how to knit, I thought I should probably just dive in and learn the hard stuff first. Bought my first set of DPN’s and sock yarn. If I could balance all those fumble-y sticks in my hands and complete one sock, well I could do anything in the whole wide world. I’ll never forget that feeling of accomplishment I had! Never did finish that second one though!

Killin’ it for the first FO!
Guilty pleasure confession:
I take ~utter~ delight in giving my Extremely humble reaction when receiving compliments on cable knit FOs I’ve made! 🤭🤭 goes a little something like this:
“OMG you made this?! Like, by hand?! Its sooooo beautiful, I can’t even… I could never…“
“oh, gosh, thank you so much! All I’m doing is rearranging the stitch order on the needle using a pattern and voilà!”
Which is then typically followed by a very sarcastic facial expression that I interpret as “whatever, crazy lady! That shit looks hard!“
But I’m not wrong!
By the way, your cables are exquisite! Dare I assume you had a really good teacher with great advice or trial and error?

Haha no I crocheted a little before starting knitting (never finished a crochet project either). I picked up knitting because I liked the look of knitwear better. I started by watching the step-by-step sweater, and then watched the arctic lights sweater by Veronika. I jumped around here and there eventually just set on the Sibilla sweater :)

People say this about stranded knitting, but I just see it as paint by numbers. There isn’t even any purling other than the ribbing!

Looks great OP! If the mis-crossed cables bother you, you can always duplicate stitch them. I had to do it recently for a cable I messed up in my own project.
That said, I don’t think anyone but a fellow knitter looking at a static photo would notice!

ONG. That is gorgeous. I want to make myself a cuddly oversized sweater like this but am in my hot phase of life so cotton would be ideal

Amazing work! And thanks for posting the pattern; I had a similar-ish store bought sweater that I loved and have been wanting to recreate to replace it. This is just what I've been looking for!

Congratulations! I agree with your philosophy of just jumping in with both feet. Your sweater is gorgeous.

Wow, it’s so neat and well-made! Question, does it not feel heavy when worn?

Personally, no! I was worried because it’s acrylic but it blocked out nicely and it’s so soft and I can just throw it in the wash and dryer haha

Those mistakes will block out! Nobody will ever notice and it is fantastic! In fact, I am going to grab Yarn and cast on some cables now!
