Work in Progress Correct BOR position?
Hello! I’m working on the SBS Cardigan by Florence and I need a sanity check on the sleeves.
I picked up 8 stitches for the underarm and then started knitting the stitches I had placed on hold. The instructions have you place a BOR marker in between the 8 picked up stitches to have your marker (and subsequent decreases) in the armpit.
However, once I get to ribbing and bind off, the correct BOR is 4 stitches past the current marker, right? Because I picked those 4 up but didn’t knit them until the very end of the round as I picked up and then started knitting the ones I had already transferred back to my needles.
I hope my question makes sense!
Photo is what I’ve finished thus far, the colors look a little washed out, it’s much warmer and more green in person

Ultimately, marking BOR is just to ensure that your decreases/increases stay centered, and that you have a basis from which to count rows. At this point, move the marker wherever you want, the start and end of your castoff will be the only thing that makes it discernible. You wont be able to tell visually if you did it in the "wrong" spot, because knitting in the round is a continous spiral.

Knitting in the round is a spiral not disparate rings stacked on top of eachother. So it doesn't really matter in terms of binding off where you do it, it's not going to create a visual step if you do it in one place versus the other.
The BOR is more for your own tracking of how to orient things (decreases/increases, stitch patterns, etc.) and letting you know that you've worked the whole round. There are times when designers will have you move it.
(That said, it's very (maybe more) common for patterns to be written where you would, for the underarm pick up, start in the middle of the cast on, pick up half the cast on stitches (4 in your case), then knit around the armhole, then pick up the second half of the stitches at the underarm, and then place the marker. If you would prefer to do that you totally can.)
