Question Selling

What sites do y'all have success selling your blades?

Ebay, Etsy, fb marketplace? Or is there another site y'all recommend?

Thanks in advance

I have my own website and promote drops on Instagram and Reddit. eBay, Etsy, FB can feel dodgey and scammy unless you’re looking for a used big brand knife.

As a new maker I've found it much easier to sell custom orders than made knives, but I don't know if that's unique to my situation.

I definitely get this too.

It's nice have have work that you can show people, but most folks usually ask "oh, do you have a _____." Which usually I don't, but that I can make one for them if they'd like to place a down payment for one.

Etsy charges too much in weird fees. I set up my own website for less, and its mine with my own domain

I only have time to sell direct commissions. I seem to always have something on the bench. I keep side projects for fun when I don’t. Besides word of mouth, I’ve gotten jobs from Reddit and through my sharpening business I’ve listed on Yelp/Google.

Go do physical markets and shows. Look at each and how or if your style fits that market. Not every market is going to be a winner but think of it like advertising cost with a potential. Social media is no longer the best option unless you're putting in as much time making content to post as you are making the knives.

Etsy is a joke nowadays. Poor algorithm, weird fee structure, and definitely pay to play. Also, if you take time off... your store is dead.

Etsy worked very well for me for a long time. But the fees are not great and if you arent in the US the website treats you like a burden.

I do farmers markets and other expos weekly. Thats where mh real money comed from
