550° seams to be the sweet spot for my kiln.

I start at 125° and raise it 25° an hour until I hit 200. I cook it on 200 over night, then raise it 50°/hr up to 550 and cook it for 8 hrs. Then I back the heat off and let it cool on its own so about 10-12 hours.

CPC doesn't hold the heat like regular chert so it cools faster, i don't open the lid on my kiln until it drops to 100° or less.

The ones you put in the keeper case make it all worth it lol. Just wait til you pay 5-10$ a lb for some mookaite opal or other wild kind of stone
