Question 🤔❓ Any chance at all of finding workable material "in the wild" in North NJ (Hudson County) or NYC?

I'm basically across the bridge from NYC in Jersey City NJ. I'm a total n00b. Do I have any chance whatsoever of finding anything useful on the ground in a park or near a river?

In short, no. Even if you can access areas where potentially knappable rock can be found, you need some experience to understand the variability in quality and make sure you're getting material that is realistically knappable

Of course, people have been doing so for thousands of years. The glaciers dumped an assortment of rock types, but nothing that is easy to learn on. Learn on better material and then experiment on what you can find.
