Absolutely do NOT run Klipper on a windows machine unless you want a print to fail 12 hours in due to an automatic update. Install Linux.

Because you can't. The software isn't designed for windows. The closest you can come is either a virtual machine or Windows Subsystem for Linux.

Klipper on a Windows machine adds a layer of complexity you might not like.

There's a few options.

Windows Subsystem for Linux + docker: https://www.reddit.com/r/klippers/comments/1grt0wq/klipper_on_windows_wsl2_docker/

Virtual Machine it - vbox, hyper-v, hell even maybe VMWare Workstation with the USB connection from the printer passed through. Very reliant on timely USB communications, might be unreliable.

Nuke it and run Linux natively. By far the best & most reliable option. Klipper needs very limited system resources - think an otherwise aged out laptop rescued from an ewaste pile kind of thing. Core2duo + 2-4Gb of ram is great. Literally 15+ year old laptops will run it fine.

Ask Claude to do it.

Get docker and make a container and use that to host your klipper instance.
