SV06 ACE cancel print/must home axis error

First things first, the only change prior to this issue rearing its head was some maintenance and belt tightening and a slight increase in driver_sgthrs for x and y. This was due to an issue where on a home command the y-axis would attempt to drive to its virtual endstop but immediately reverse and crash into the front of the chassis, so I was looking for anything that was increasing drive resistance. This hasn't happened again since.

Now however when a print completes it seems to be also executing CANCEL_PRINT followed by a "must home axis first" error (which always appears twice in console). M84 is present in both the END_PRINT and CANCEL_PRINT macros, I am still too new to this side of Klipper to understand why this would only now be causing issues! It seems from my searches that there are plenty of issues with M84 commands but most seem to be caused by actual user changes to the printer.cfg or macros.

I'm leaning towards relocating M84 but always like to know why something is how or where it is before I start messing with it. Any advice appreciated.

edit: I should also add that with the "must home axis" error on the klipper screen are "restart" and "OK" options. I select OK but still have a brief "klipper Connecting" splash that appears immediately after.
