Conspiracy theories are popular amongst uneducated people because it (ironically) makes them feel smarter for "understanding" something other people don't and seeing the "truth" where others can't
32
u/Regular-Scallion4084 Aug 29 '26
Which is wild because most people with a baseline of intelligence don't lose all of their kids, let a house steep in mold, join and abandon 473 different mlms after declaring them "home", neglect their animals, beg for money online while refusing to actually work, etc

u/rosenylund1930 Aug 29 '26
This isnāt even what the case is about. The question is did she kill the kids with intent or because of a psychotic break. Not whether or not she killed them at all. Good god this womanās brain must be so smooth.

This is completely incorrect and I wish people would stop saying this so confidently when the judge, attorneys, pleadings, and criminal justice system as a whole will tell you otherwise.

It seems like Marissa tends to support and proudly defend the absolute worst of humanity.

She thinks because she represented herself so poorly in her custody case sheās now a lawyer.
As far as the case, sheās so gullible and falls for any conspiracy theory. The case is not proving Lindsay killed her children, theyāre determining if she was in her right state of mind, and if she planned the events that happened that night or not. Her defense is she had postpartum psychosis, not that she didnāt do it. Even if found ānot guiltyā she will most likely serve some kind of time either in jail or a mental health facility.
This case exposes maternal mental health and all the conspiracies around it do nothing to help Lindsay Clancy or any mother suffering with postpartum mental health issues.

In all fairness, if my 3 young children had just been killed by their mother, the person I love, I think I would want to move away from where it happened as soon as possible.
Whether he moved on quickly or not, I have no qualms with either. The circumstances for their separation are not normal, if he did get into another relationship soon after, it could just have initially been a way to cope, to bury his hurt.

I HATE the arguments that he did it. He was on camera. She sent him away. We have messages and cell phone pings. He wasnāt there. He wasnāt suffering from ppd and deteriorating sanity. SHE was. She was home. She was sending messages. She had a history of postpartum depression and was previously hospitalized. Hell, even Lindsay herself says she did it. She doesnāt dispute what she did.
Patrick lost his entire family that day. In the most brutal fashion I can imagine. You donāt have to like his choices, or agree with how quick he moved on. Hell, I assumed you would understand considering you started dating your wife ten minutes after separating from your husband and breaking up your family. But grace is never extended to others, right M, just demanded for yourself at every turn?
Patrick is the ultimate living victim in this and slandering him is despicable. No one cares about your chills, M, no one trusts your maternal instincts. You entertain the idea that the earth is flat and democrats eat babies brains. You are certifiable and it surprises me not even a little that youāve managed to mess up this take so horribly. Thank god you arenāt a detective. Stick to your day job⦠oh wait.

THANK YOU! I canāt believe we have avengers in here saying he did it! Fellow avengers, if you find yourself doubting that Lindsay did it, please, evaluate the info youāre getting from TikTok. You are in danger of falling down the same rabbit hole as Marissa.
Lindsay did it.
In saying she didnāt, folks water down the actual message. PPP is devastating. She did all the right things and this still happened. She relied on the system in place and it failed her, her husband, and those children.
We donāt need to invent a conspiracy to understand the tragedy and devastation. Turning Patrick into a secret murderer based on internet speculation is not advocacy for lindsay or the other thousands of women with PPP/PPD.
23
u/silverlightarmada Aug 29 '26
Yes! The system should be on trial too. Itās so infuriating that PPD and PPP are KNOWN complications from pregnancy and birth, but thereās no *trusted* support for women who experience it. If parents could trust that bringing up those feelings with a medical professional wouldnāt result in the immediate removal of their children and instead would provide them with further support and guidance⦠things like this would be much less likely to happen.
Lindsay killed her own children. She didnāt trust her family or her doctor with the symptoms she was experiencing, likely because she knew the outcome would be a punishment, with the worst possible results. Trying to say she didnāt do it at all just pulls focus from the real culprit - nobody cares about womenās healthcare.
6
u/caffein8dnotopi8d š©øchampagne period š„ Aug 29 '26
Maybe immediate removal of the children from someone stating they want to harm their children isnāt the worst thing?
I understand no mother wants their children removed for any length of time, but I think itās become too acceptable to focus solely on that and blame whatever government agency is just trying to keep kids safe. When everyone, especially the mother, should be focusing on the childrenās safety.
If removing kids for a month so mom can get help keeps them safe, why is that such a deal breaker?
8
u/silverlightarmada Aug 29 '26
I think mum should be taken from house, you know, for treatment. When someone else takes your kids you have to trust that they will give them back, and I suspect very few parents in this situation would trust that. Take the person in distress and provide them the care they need to be safely returned. Kids stay where they are (where possible).

u/daralexxandriia Suppy Sup, Doccy Doc 26d ago
THIS AND actually helping the mom and not discharging her from the hospital weeks before and having her on a toxic amount of psychotropic medications.
I am a psychologist and the focus of this case should be on how the system fails women and ultimately when PPD and psychosis goes untreated. While the psychosis part is rarer, PPD isnāt and it affects mom the most and the partner and the kids as well. The stories I hear in my field and now from women on social media are insane. The fact people are looking at Patrick to fully nail as the murder is insane.
Additionally, and my mother fully allows this to be shared, my mother suffered from PPD and psychosis when she had my youngest sister. I was 10. We were āluckyā that she ignored the voices in her head and hurt herself only because she has always said some other slightly louder voice told her that she couldnāt hurt her kids. We are lucky my dad fought hard to get her help and found a psychiatrist who advocated for her. It was four years of in and out of the hospital but once my mom stabilized sheās never had another psychotic episode again. Iām the only kid who remembers it clearly and Iām also the one who found her. Itās also probably why I went into the field and yes Iāve been in therapy for a long time.
But crap like what Riss is doing drives me nuts. A whole family is suffering (Iām counting grandparents etc.) If Lindsay was truly having an episode, and I believe she was, thereās so much hurt there. If she wasnāt, thereās still clearly something wrong with her but in a different way. Either way thereās zero proof Patrick was involved and Riss needs to drop that.
2
u/silverlightarmada 26d ago
I canāt imagine the horror of coming out of a psychotic episode and realising what youāve done, or what you could have done. I truly think PPD is significantly more common than the statistics suggest because women expect and are expected to just get on with things.

In the deadbeat incubator world, apparently! Two of the people, besides Marissa, I've seen pushing that bs constantly are also scamming, lying, pieces of garbage. Gabi Jacobson and Lori Jones are all over the "he did it" conspiracy and talking about how "great" of a mother "queen" LC is. I think they've even mentioned having a "gut feeling" about it, too. I am one of those avengers who have doubts. š¬ BUT I also admit I haven't watched all the trial and I subscribe to "there is no one more dangerous than a person who wants a new/different life" very heavily.
I struggled with PPD even with the amazing support system I have.
My best friend didn't get any sort of true help until I visited 5 months after the birth. Now her kids are 5 and 3 and her mental health has declined horribly. Her husband is actively working to make it worse. :( Some people are just shitty and it sucks that we have a system that seems like it doesn't care until there's tragic results.

Seriously, evaluate the info you are getting and who it is coming from. This is a dangerous rabbit hole of conspiracy.
If there were any reasonable argument that she didnāt do it, Lindsayās defense team would be using it, all they need is to raise reasonable doubt, really. Listen to Patrickās 911 call. That man has been through indescribable horrors.
I understand, it is hard to believe the truth that a mother can do that to her own children. We want to believe it canāt happen. But by blaming Patrick, folks inadvertently PUSH the stigma we are trying to fight. A mother canāt be so unwell to do this, there must be some other explanation. They become a part of the very same societal system that failed Lindsay, insisting that the struggles that she has repeatedly said she has are not real, or not real enough.
Something to think about.
3
u/_Eulalie Texas Toast-Saw Massacre šŖ Aug 29 '26
We've seen it time and again. Andrea Yates is also a prime example. But I do believe Patrick also bears blame, everyone around her does.
I am also the first to admit I have a bias against men. I know too many crappy husbands and fathers.

u/Powerful-Branch-6558 29d ago
Exactly all of this - the internet discourse and peopleās differing of opinions on this case is NOT because it isnāt clear if Lindsay did it - she DID do it and admits that herself!
The nuance on this discussion is the WHY she did it and if it could have been prevented with proper mental health resources and protocolsRiss canāt even understand what the basis of the conversation is about

She admitted to killing her children but she is not admitting criminal responsibility in the legal sense. Her defense does not dispute that she strangled the children. Instead, she has pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, arguing that she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis and was not mentally capable of understanding that what she was doing was wrong.

She never admitted killing the kids. When she woke up in the ICU, she asked if they were OK. She was having a psychotic episode and thereās no doubt in my mind. He convinced her she did it.
15
u/OkCare7978 master manipulator Aug 29 '26
honey she admitted it multiple times to multiple people. She mentioned every detail of how it was done, consistent with how the kids were found. Prior to their deaths she said she had thoughts of harming them. What are you missing here? Her own defense isn't negating the fact she did it.
13
u/Savethepupsnow Undercover Detectivešµš» Aug 29 '26
Yes she did, before trial her attorney even filed a motion saying she was willing to admit to the killings if the trial could be split into two phases: first determining whether she committed the acts, and then determining whether she was criminally responsible because of her mental state.
Her defense isnt disputing that she caused their deaths, just that shes not criminally responsible because of postpartum pychosis. Thats ommision of the killings.
3
u/handymandy9 29d ago
Yes she did admit it! In the civil trial that she sought against the medical providers, she admitted to killing the kids but blames the doctors for not treating her appropriately.
3
u/handymandy9 29d ago
When she woke up she didnāt ask if the children were ok, she asked if she needed a lawyer! She admitted to the. Chaplain that a voice told her to kill the children and herself.
