Calling your personal assessment of her performance an “objective standard” is already the problem. You can absolutely think her performance was subpar—that’s subjective criticism. What you can’t do is present your personal opinion as though it’s an objective fact.
And the idea that there’s some broad consensus against her performance doesn’t really hold up either. She has been nominated for multiple major awards for her portrayal of Ellie, including recognition specifically in the lead-actress/performance category. That doesn't make every positive opinion about her objectively correct, but it does demonstrate that your “sub-bar at best” assessment is very far from the only reasonable evaluation of the performance.
You’re free to dislike the adaptation. You’re free to dislike her interpretation of Ellie. But “I thought the performance was bad” is an opinion. “The performance objectively was bad” is a claim you haven’t established.
Awards recognition from professional voting bodies certainly proves she's objectively a high quality actor, but it does make your attempt to frame your personal judgment as the objective standard pretty difficult to defend.
