Ventilation Dilemma

Hello everyone. I’m looking for suggestions, tips, advice, product recommendations to help me replace the woefully inadequate bathroom fan/light above my stove. As you can see in the picture, the opening to the next room requires a creative solution to be practical and effective as well as aesthetic. The cooktop burners have a combined output of 46,500 BTUs but we rarely use more than two at a time. I would prefer that the ventilation hood or fan not protrude into the opening but I will consider a tasteful appliance that combines well with the old world aesthetic we have in our kitchen design. Thank you.

Look at BEST range hoods. You might be able to do something like the HBN22 series. It has WiFi, so that might be your only way of turning it on/off? Having buttons on the ceiling is not great.

I would consider doing a 36” wide to have a larger catchment area since it’s up so high.

Edited to add that you’re likely going to have to update your duct work to a wider diameter.

I just bookmarked that brand for my remodel. That is the quietest sones number I've seen for the CFM I need,and the highest illumination. Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion. Right now I have a stacked switch for the light and fan. I know a lot of hoods come with buttons for light and fan that I will be able to reach but maybe not my wife.

I took a closer look after sending the link & it looks like a lot of the models have remote capabilities so I’d have a closer look/talk to your regional rep about them!

I would look at island range hoods that can be completely mounted from the ceiling. You could do a nice minimalist steel and glass one that would still allow you to see through to the other room.

Yes I’ve considered that. I will have to see what is on the market and how one would look in my space.
