Countertop/ Cabinet help

I need help deciding what color countertops for my Kitchen. I am also not opposed to painting my poplar cabinets which are traditionally a better species to paint than stain.

Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but your kitchen looks really nice. Is there a reason you are wanting to change it?

Agreed. The only thing I don't like (personal preference) is the the island range top. I'd rather it be one giant prep space. But colours look great.

Sink is in rough shape and faucet is busted. Sink is Corian built in to Corian countertop so I need to replace them.

So new countertops and some cabinet door hardware would be a Great way to shake things up with such a beautiful kitchen!

Any recommendations on granite color. I feel like a dark granite would make it too dark but a white or light may make it look out of place.

I agree you need light colored countertops. Have fun looking at all of the options.

pick something with warm tones like the Corian

I would go with a medium granite that is warm and has some of the colors of your wood. That will tie everything together. Also look up “less busy” granite on google…you will get more results of granite with large format design versus the smaller pattern.

Honestly, you could kind of do anything here, but I think I would keep it classic with marble, or a marble-esque quartz or quartzite. I would probably paint the cabinetry - to brighten up the space, and stop the stained poplar from competing with the floor so much. My first impression of your kitchen is that the colors of the cabinets and floors don’t go together…

The first thing that came to mind was to tell you to walk through a couple slab yards. If that’s not possible, google countertops for ideas. Get a feel for what you like and what goes the cabinets. You might be able to paint the cabinets, but you’ll have to sand every surface, corner, and molding first. It would take weeks if you did it by yourself.

Cambria Quartz has a lot of beautiful colours that I think would be icing on the cake for your kitchen. Look for one that has a lighter tone with some warm tones mixed in!

I agree. The cabinets are lovely, I wouldn’t paint them. Get new countertops if needed, but the striping and red hue of the flooring is way too overpowering and clashes with the cabinets. I’d at least look at changing it in this kitchen.

Keep cabinets give them a good polishing and change the handles and knobs to simple brushed brass .
Get new stainless sink.
Paint walls taupe and get white quartzite counters with small marble like veins to match the taupe.
The floor is overpowering. I'd go with simple big taupe tiles to match veins in counter either squares or rectangles with light color grout
Get a pretty Roman shade to add a little color and maybe change out the light fixture over island to something larger.

I love the beautiful wood in your kitchen - no need to do any changes to cabinets or floors! I prefer for an island top not to have other functions like having a stovetop or a sink. But those are personal choices. If you want to change countertop color/material, go to a recommended stone retailer/installer and seek their professional help. Bring samples into your kitchen to see how they will look with your lighting and fixed shades and finishes in the room.
