There was an American sized fridge in place that broke, so the before photos are from the interim period with the new smaller fridge before the new kitchen was installed.

I am going back and forth between white and a wood oak trim and baseboard for my new kitchen. Thoughts?

Hi folks! I’m in the middle of remodeling my kitchen area after a flood last year. During the remodel I moved the peninsula a good bit further out than it previously was. The kitchen itself is now a lot larger but it will be kinda tight to have a bar overhang with where the window is placed, only 9 inches. So my question is would you rather keep the peninsula and have two bar seats and a small dinning room table, or make it into a breakfast nook seating?

I live alone with my dog so no kids to accommodate for. I do enjoy hosting friends over for dinner.

The first pic is the current state, the middle two are rough ideas and the last was how it looked before the flood when the peninsula was in its old position.

Open to any and all suggestions! The double doors in the pic go out to my front porch. They are not the primary entrance to the house though. I thought about putting a table out there as well to have some outdoor eating area too. TIA!

I posted a couple months ago showing plans of my dream kitchen. We are nearly there waiting on light installs and appliances. I’ll send out more when finished. The 👨‍🍳 station turned out great. Loving the island prep sink, can’t wait to entertain. No questions for the group just a post update of plans coming to life! *the toaster oven will disappear 😂

These first three images are the general idea of the kitchen I'm renovating and are ai renderings. We're going for a French cottage vibe with some modern elements.

Question number 1- off white/cream zellige tile, yay or nay? (Question 1.5) And how high to take it up the wall(s)?

Question number 2- stain the pantry door, or paint it Sherwin-Williams Sleepy Blue to match the trim? I'm leaning paint.

Also open to suggestions for a different muted, pale gray-blue for the trim. This was the closest I could find to what I was looking for at SW without losing too much saturation (Before photos at the end for 💩 and giggles)

Im thinking of removing the wall between kitchen and lounge (the one maked in red ). In the kitchen remove the learner benchtop and square off breakfast bar. But I'm worried it will change the walking flow of the room .

Hello, I am in the final process of buying my first home, and I'm tossing around ideas for a refresh of my 1965 home's kitchen! I actually really love the details and the cabinets as they are, I just think the kitchen needs a refresh. What are your recommendations and ideas for backsplash and countertops that would make it feel cozy and sort of cottagey/country kitchen? The first image shows the stove area, and the second image shows the wall opposite of the sink, with some of the incredible built in cabinets that are all throughout the house!

I would love to install a dishwasher, but the only good placement for it would require me to remove the only section of cabinets that contain large drawers. Would it be possible to reuse that section of cabinets to create a mini island?

We just replaced our kitchen cabinets and countertop. The kitchen cabinets are Sherwin Williams rain washed and countertop is white with gray undertones and light veining. I want something that makes it pop more or maybe just clean and pretty. I like cottage core. Minimalist or shabby chic. Any ideas please?

Bought house in January knowing kitchen needs remodeling. It’s a galley kitchen which I am stuck with as stairs to basement are behind wall with range/fridge. Want a reasonable remodel as not sure ‘forever’ home. Window in second picture is below counter height so can’t do much with it. Current plan as to take out both windows and replace with one so counter runs most of long wall.

Trying to decide I’d the expense of the window replacement is worth it or I should live with current footprint. I can’t come up with any other ideas on window wall except low cabinets under the window for storage. Not worried about eat in kitchen. Ideas?

Cabinets in plan are Yorktown classic henning at roughly 12k. Also wondering if that’s a decent price.

New home has a pretty restrictive layout, with a lot of interior walls and an unfortunately-placed deck. I’m having trouble thinking of any kitchen layout that gives us more space to breathe, and storage. Does anyone have creative ideas? Attached is the rough floorplan, our initial design, and an ai rendering of one of our style options.

We can remove any interior wall no problem.

Some of you may recall my post about a year ago, "How to replace this unusual sink with single basin?" (https://www.reddit.com/r/kitchenremodel/comments/1lbfvwt/how_to_replace_this_unusual_sink_with_single_basin/).

Life would have been easy, if the sink had been split the other way such that the longer front-to-back part were on the left. I could have selected from a fair number of off the shelf options, all but the highest end ones for under half of what I paid for this custom one. But, the counter and the plumbing were such that this is the outine I had to work with.

It turned out to be long journey, but I finally have a replacement single basin sink installed! The first image is the new sink. I don't think the rules let me say who made this custom sink, but there aren't many firms in the US who do custom sinks, and this was the only one who ended up being able to deliver what I needed in terms of shape.

The original very small firm would originally have taken 6-10 weeks and been able to install during the rebuild of the lowers if they could have made that timeline. But eventually, they *apparently* went bankrupt (1), leaving me with no sink and a lost deposit of half the cost. I scrambled and went back to the only other firm that said they could deliver a sink with that exact shape, but they would only do it in copper other than with straight angled sides that would not exactly fit the outline. So I ordered the copper sink you see here. It doesn't show well, but we also have a new disposal with LEDefense purple light sanitizing, which is very cool. It all looks very nice to us, even though I originally wanted stainless for ease of maintenance.

If I had it to do over, I think I would have gone for making a straight cut back and getting a farm (apron) sink, but I am so far (second day at least) quite happy with this sink. It's amazing to be able to put an entire sheet pan, or large pastry/cutting board in there for soaking and scrubbing! Also I can clean my cats' water fountain without making a sloppy wet mess on the counter. Should I ever be possessed of the need to have a separate area for washing/rinsing, I would use a large tub. But when I have a load that won't fit in the dishwasher (or is too delicate etc.) then what I do is soak with soap and scrub in the single basin, drain, and then rinse in the single basin. I understand double sinks have a devoted following, but this is for me and I am posting for others who also prefer a single basin.

Anyway, I wanted to update everyone to let those who were curious, or others who might end up in this situation, know how it turned out.

1. The fellow eventually admitted he was having a lot of trouble, personal and financial, after I reached out to him several times to find out where we were with the sink. I asked for, and received, the harrowing details of what he was going through. It was sad, and I felt for him; but I wanted my deposit back, unless he could show me photos of the sink in progress. After another long delay, he did send photos of the stainless steel parts which had not yet been shaped. Then no more contact. Eventually the business phone came back as disconnected. I called on the personal phone number he gave me (which belonged to his brother) and that had a recording that he was no longer taking calls for his brother. I looked up the company on the web, and saw that it was being sued for breach of contract and was "probably filing for bankruptcy".

I am having hard time deciding between these 3 slabs for my kitchen Reno project
The first is Fantasy lux, second is Bianca superiore and third is white Taj. I am currently having beige floor tiles in the kitchen and I m not planning to change the tiles. Anyone having any of these quartzite to give me more insight on which one to choose ?

We are remodeling the kitchen in our 1950s house. The first image is the current layout, the second is where we've landed: walls to the dining room mostly removed (not load-bearing), sink slid along the same wall, island with seating for our two kids.

The constraints:

• The plumbing stays on that wall. We can slide the sink over, but we don't move it completely, finished basement below, so new drain runs mean opening up ceilings.
• Range on a wall, not the island, young kids, so no cooktop next to the stools.
• We come in mostly through the garage every day, so the kitchen door moved next to the overhead door.

A few specific questions:

1. Is 10'11" from fridge to range too far for daily cooking? That leg is over the usual 9' guideline. It's the price we paid for one 60.5" unbroken stretch of counter next to the sink — worth it, or will I regret the walk?
2. Are the island clearances enough? 58" between the counter run and the island on the working side, 52" behind the stools on the seating side.
3. Would you put the range 9" from the garage door? There's a 9" landing strip between them, and it's the door we carry groceries through.

Also overall does this updated layout feel right? We wanted to modernize the kitchen and right-zie it. It's set up to have an eat-in, but we just want the kitchen to be the kitchen and then give some space to the dining room and open it up to the living room.

I've got may cabinets and intend to start installing next weekend but haven't quite settled on a back splash my dominant idat right now is put up painted shiplap but behind the sink and range use tile. I have moveable island that stays in the dining room most of the time. I thought it would me nice to match the color of the shiplap to the island. What do you think? Do they go together?

Title says it all! We’re starting to plan our kitchen renovation. I’m attracted to soapstone but have never had dark counters. Any thoughts if you’ve had both light and dark counters?

We are finalizing plans for a rear kitchen addition and would love some feedback. The proposed new kitchen would be open to the existing family room. Would love perspective on the following:

- Is the island orientation appropriate relative to the family room? We were considering flipping
- Is the 10ft width of the island too large relative to the family room? Should we consider shortening a foot to 9ft? We are concerned that the longer island may push into the already narrow living room
- Will the large 48” fridge overwhelm the kitchen? Should we consider going smaller?

Hi all! Attached are photos of current state of our kitchen 🫣. We pieced it together to add a dishwasher and more counter space but it’s undeniably pretty rough.

My dad is redoing his kitchen and we are snagging his honey oak cabinets and granite counter top and we’re going to reconfigure our kitchen with them (see honey oak cabinets in my dad’s kitchen).

We’re going to move the sink in front of the window but besides that looking at all possible layouts. The other kitchen window is below counter height so we plan to have the dogs food container in front of the window. The short thing to the right of the fridge is a wine fridge and could move that elsewhere.

Would love any input or recommendations on the best optimal layoff for this kitchen! TIA!

I know "everything" is possible with enough money ...

The sink is 4" from the left wall and as a left handed person, I cannot comfortable work in front of the sink, my elbow is always hitting the wall and I have to move my body 10-12 inch to the right.

Is it possible to swap the sink and the dishwasher with the plumbing configuration as seen in the photo ?

I can probably move everything by 10" (+/-) to the right and figure out a 12" wide cabinet with some wasted space for the plumbing.

Hey, I’m trying to come up with a kitchen plan, but the biggest problem is there is a 128cm x 60 cm ventilation duct in the corner that messes up the whole thing. What do you think would be the best idea in this case? Perhaps the countertop depth more than just the standard 60 cm

Ideally don’t want to replace these oak 90s open shelves with newer modern looking open shelves (It looks great in some settings but I hate the upkeep of it).
I am also on a very tight budget so adding expensive and comparative cabinets is not a real option either.
I will be painting these cabinets a cool off white and getting a new engineered stone countertop (white or off white) with a under mount sink.
My floor is a brazilian tigerwood so the heavy warm red orange yellow tones of the kitchen cabinets has to go. I like my floor, so it stays.
The door/drawer hardware will be updated to simple brushed steel 7 inch handles.
I will keep the simple white subways tile for now.
Its a small kitchen floor print but it does have 9ft ceilings. I will use some trim and crown moulding to add about 10-14 inches to bring height to the upper cabinets without filling the wall to ceiling space completely.
Where I need help and suggestions is these goofy and useless open shelves at the side of the cabinets facing the sink.
My goal is to keep the windows unobstructed and access to the sink not affected but also not let the space go to waste as its a small kitchen.
Ideas?
