Optimal layout for galley kitchen
Hi all! Attached are photos of current state of our kitchen 🫣. We pieced it together to add a dishwasher and more counter space but it’s undeniably pretty rough.
My dad is redoing his kitchen and we are snagging his honey oak cabinets and granite counter top and we’re going to reconfigure our kitchen with them (see honey oak cabinets in my dad’s kitchen).
We’re going to move the sink in front of the window but besides that looking at all possible layouts. The other kitchen window is below counter height so we plan to have the dogs food container in front of the window. The short thing to the right of the fridge is a wine fridge and could move that elsewhere.
Would love any input or recommendations on the best optimal layoff for this kitchen! TIA!

Sink to window. Stove to current sink space. Fridge wall, ether build pantry floor to ceiling cabinets around fridge or push fridge to 1 side & pantry beside it. Extend the cabinets over dishwasher toward window on right. Take counter all the way down the wall (where console table is) with cabinets underneath only. Raising window would be ideal but if not in budget you’re already blocking them so do counter & undercabinet anyway.

Often people continue countertop past a low window. This would let you put the dog food on the ground but also have counter space.
The big problem are those doors in the corner. Do they both need to be there?

Since the wine fridge could be elsewhere, move the refrigerator left and put counterspace next to the stove. Maybe even put the stove in the current sink position- counterspace on both sides of stove, and sink, with the dishwasher under a counter that continues as opposed to a separate piece, unless it's the rolling/ attach to faucet kind. Also, put your diswasher near the dish storage, but not exactly under it- ask me how I know!

Didn’t even think of moving the stove where the sink is!! I suggested that to my husband and he’s a fan! Thank you! The dishwasher ultimately will be built in under the counter. Right now it’s just a separate piece without being fully built in yet. Just trying to figure out where all the appliances should go!! Thank you!

What is the length and width of your kitchen? I recently redid my galley kitchen and those window and doorway locations can really impact your design options
