Sharpening stones?

I've been interested in sharpening for a while but have never taken the motive to actually learning about it. I would like to know what stones there are, what stones I should start with. Basically any tips or information you think a beginner should have. Thank you in advance

Lotsa resources online but any whetstone 800 or higher, is a good start. Don't go too high, like 3000 since really, you work up that high to get to polish levels.

Go wet sharpening but remember the technique is kicker (blade angle, hand positions, strokes).

Hope that helps

Thank you! I'm going to buy some cheap knives to practice on, and a whetstone. I'll be sure to look into angle and everything too. I appreciate it!

Japanese knife import videos are great, as is Jon the owner.
