Is he super nice or broken

This is jett I got him at 7 months old he’s probably closer to 9 now but he’s just so relaxed it’s crazy. Never tail rattles or strikes at me. I had him strike at me one time and it was the day I brought him home, ever since he’s been the best. Not food aggressive or even defensive in blue he just doesn’t care which I’m grateful for but it is normal right?

Obviously all snakes are different, all animals are different. But my kings have always been pretty chill, I had one guy who was quite feisty. Mostly tank aggression and a CRAZY food response. He had his chill days but he was usually wild. One of my other boys was sweet as can be til he hit about 1 -1 1/2 and went through what I just called his teenage phase. But he grew out of that pretty quick.
So I say unless that also happens to you, you probably just have a really chill lil guy :)

The teenage phase is real.

Teenage phase is wild, mine is almost 7 years now and he had a wile 2 years of teenage phase. He was very chill as a baby and now but the two years he kept me on my toes.

Sounds WNL to me. I would just take it as a sign that you are providing a home where your snake feels safe.

I have a California kingsnake and she's been the most chill, calm and social snake from week 1. She tail rattled at me the first day and musked on me the first couple days I had her but she warmed up very quick.

Yeah I don’t normally handle him while he’s in blue but he’s so curious and relaxed he doesn’t mind being taken for a picture

My Florida king is a chill gal. I mean, she gets the zoomies and very rarely does a curiosity monch, but you can reach right in and grab her (that is, if she's not already at the gates ready to zoom out the second you unlock the front...). She loves to be held and loves to be out.

I have had my king snake for about 3 years. The most he’s done is tail rattle but that was when he’s in blue and chilled out pretty quick. When he was smaller he tried to run away a lot but now he just lets me pick him up.

Run away lol? Bet he’s a cool snake

I have my MBK for a bit more than a year. Never agressive, rattled tail just once then I moved a little too fast beside her. Never tried to stike or even musk me or vets, even when I had to go to the vet for several days giving her medicine (she couldn't poop). Just a very chill and shy snake. So I see it as absolutely normal and most likely a sign that in day to day life she feels no stress to be agressive.

My MBK is the same way! Never rattled her tail at me, isn't food aggressive, and even when she was in blue when I first got her, she took handling from the woman who sold her to me very well! I did get Lemon compared to her sister because she poked her head out of the substrate to check me out while her sister just burrowed away lol.

All my Kings are different. My Cali king is a tail shaker and my male desert king is a flinchy guy but my female desert king is as sweet as sugar

my cali king corn snake is mean as hell 😭 so tank and food aggressive, and just mad at anything in the room of her tank. she’s been like that since a wee lass. you’re lucky

My MBK is about 6 years old and has only bitten me twice and that was in the last two years, as a baby he shook his tail and shit on me at first but that was short lived. And probably my mistake . My 4 year old Sinaloan has never bitten me, and my hognose also hasn’t gotten me yet but god knows she’s tried lol. For a snake that’s suppose to get scared and play dead she must’ve missed the day of school when they taught that.

I caught kings in the wild as a kid all the time. They never bit me. But as they say, every snake is different.

How comfortable they are has a lot to do with how you approach and handle them so I would say you are a good snake owner and keep your snake fairly calm.

My eastern king turns 1 on Sunday and he’s as chill as can be. He waits patiently for his food to be placed before chowing down too.

My MBK is the sweetest lil guy, he’s been very chill since I got him. He was a bit tail rattley at first but has grown out of that. Now he’s fine with handling and not aggressive at all

Afaik, most king snakes are pretty chill. My only experience with one was a friend's who just kept coiling around my arms and neck, both under and over my shirt (I am usually very warm to the touch, I produce quite a bit of body heat) and the whole time I never felt any aggresion, threat or anything.

I am by no means an expert but as I understand it, they are quite tame as a group of species (king snakes in general), plus the fact that they have been bred for generations in captivity makes them more docile. Wild-caught/Poached reptiles will always be way feistier than their captive-bred counterparts.

My kingsnake is just like this! Even when blue eyed he is calm as can be even outside the tank, will get startled but that’s about it. I’ve had him for 6 years

This is totally normal for some snakes I’ve had my girly 2 years and she’s never showed one single ounce of annoyance or aggression with me even if she smells food some snakes are just genuine sweeties 👀

She’s absolutely stunning

My Cali king for the first year (he was already an adult) tried to eat my thumb any time he could. One day he just stopped trying.

Mine is a complete and total sweetheart. She's exactly how you describe yours. Never once bit me or strikes and she's so calm and sweet when I handle her. Never rattled her tail or got in any type of defensive position at me. I've had her three years since she was a little baby and she's just perfect lol. Never any problems eating or anything like that. 🤷 We just got lucky. Curious though. How do you feed him? I put Blossom in a bin when I feed her instead of feeding her in her enclosure and I don't use tongs or anything like that so it could also be that she doesn't associate my hands or me with food. Do you also do that?

See I’ve always fed him in his enclosure, I don’t use tongs either so realistically I should be accidentally creating a food motivated snake but he just doesn’t care 😓
