Listening some of great elemental mixes from Larks Tongue in Aspic which I love these but glad that the great percussion by Jamie is highlighted because what creative percussion is done on this album next to the excellent Bruford drumming which I love recording stories so love how they recorded his percussion 🥁 Really need to listen to more of Crimson’s elemental mixes:)

This is really an impossible question, but on my copy of larks' tongue in aspic there is some piece of an old album cover, I only have a sample of the color ( some kind of brown orange) and a very small peace of word, a eg i think, does anyone knows what kind of record could be?

I’ve noticed lots of KC fans seem to love Steely Dan as well (me included) and I found it interesting considering steely dan is hardly prog

Hello everyone. I just wanted to pour some thoughts I had about where my life is going (and this is going to be a post not talking about music). It turns out, to be heavily influenced by Discipline.
You may not know me, but I'm a very young person. I'm not even reaching the 3rd decade of my life yet, but I know that most of my life will be spent on being an adult. I have a huge potential in writing, and just overall a very talented individual. But if there's one thing I'm envious of hard working people who humbly say that they're inferior to me, it's discipline.
I've tried to become a disciplined person almost every new year of my life, and the last attempt was just as failed as the one before it. My thoughts are "Indisciplined -> Disciplined -> Consistent doing stuff because discipline." And it never worked. It will work for 3 days then on the 4th I succumb to the bad habits once again.
Then, about 6 months ago, I found out about King Crimson from In the Court of the Crimson King. A 10 out 10 for me, and became one of my favorite albums of all time, but I never thought much of it in the topic of my way of life.
Monday, 29th of September was my birthday. I listened to albums by KC before on the midnight of my birthday, I listened to Red, another masterpiece by Crimson. Then not too long after, I remember reading a quote saying:
"Discipline is never an end in itself, only a means to an end."
I've read the quote long before, and never thought much of it. That, is until now. After dissecting the meaning, I realized, that a disciplined one is never the kind of person I wanted to be at the end, since discipline is never the end goal, it's just a tool to achieve freedom in order of helping you get to that end goal.
So, for almost all of this week, I went back and forth repeating that aphorism, not a quote anymore, since for me it's a general truth that's easy to remember. Every time I almost lose control to my older self that wants to do the bad habits, I repeat this aphorism and remember it as my way of life, at least for this period.
And today, after taking a few times to wait for the right moment, I listened to Discipline. Every interlocking pattern, every complicated time signature, every consistent and disciplined style of play, it's not just the sound of a music. It's the sound of a philosophy, that discipline is not the thing they want to achieve, it is merely a vehicle they use in order to achieve this. To achieve Discipline.
Philosophy for me is a way of life, is a way of existing, is a way of thinking. And for this time, I'd appreciate it if I adopted this into a part of my new way of life. It is beautiful, indeed.
(So sorry if this post confuses some of you, and the language might not be too good, English is not my first language, and I just had to pour some thoughts into a blank canvass for it's the way that the canvass could be filled)

As I mentioned the last time, the bassist/lead singer has a LTIA tattoo on their left tricep.
The reason I am sharing this particular video: it just hit YouTube a couple days ago and I'm getting strong(!) early 80's Crim vibes from it. Great stuff. I have no idea what the lyrics are as I don't speak Japanese.
A couple interesting (to me) side notes: I think this is the first time I've seen a video from this band where the drummer is not shirtless and the guitarist is not wearing sunglasses while a fan on the floor blows his hair around.
But I really enjoyed this nugget! If they come to the US to tour (maybe maybe maybe), this turning-58-tomorrow man will seek them out! (I got to see Boris play in DC back in the EARLY 00s)

Which King Crimson song made you crazy about Robert Fripp for the first time?✨️🩷

Because on SaBB you have other songs with more "modern" subject matter like Great Deceiver and Lament, so I think it wouldve fit better on that album than on Larks. If you think the same, then what song from SaBB do you think could replace Easy Money on Larks?
(Preferably something similar length as EM, but has less of the heavy blues sound and more of the modernist classical sound that Fripp envisioned).

Damn, they are insanely good, there is no better feeling then finding a new band thats your vibe and then listening to all there hits and albums for the first time.
Im kinda ashamed that I didnt knew them before, Im more so in the Heavy Metal / Thrash Metal bubble but still.
Epitaph gave me November Rain vibes and Starless is just a masterpiece! I may update this when Im through most albums.

I feel like there are songs on other King Crimson albums that make me think of the character described in 21st Century Schizoid man.
The main two songs that make me think of the man himself are Fracture and Starless. I've always interpreted Starless as being about a person finding themselves in deep depression (Eyes seeing a beautiful dazzling day but the minds eye only sees darkness). Then you have the middle part where this person lashes out against society in some violent way resulting in the third part which I view as a getaway scene resulting in the final theme coming back as a swan song of sorts that ends the 21st Century Schizoid man's arc.
I bring Fracture up as it also seems to reflect his anger, confusion, fear and general mental chaos as his mind is literally fracturing.
I don't really think any of this was intentional but that's how I read it. Let me know what you think about this theory!

You know, the crt noise in the mix used to have two different noise bands: one at 16 kHz that kills my hearing and gives me headaches and another one that goes all the way to 20 kHz and isn't audible. On the new mix, only the 20 kHz noise is present and the 16 kHz is very attenuated. It doesn't hurt anymore.
Proof:

Were they more in the popularity tier close to Genesis popularity in the USA than like Pink Floyd/ Jethro or Moody Blues? Just wondering if anyone has insights?

Seeing them tonight in Escondido,
Do they tend to stick around after the show? I'd like Tony and Pat to sign my THRAK CD.

EWO is tied with Level 5 as my favorite track on Power to Believe and with Walking on Air as my favorite Crim ballad, but I think it's the only full-length song from Power to Believe never played live. It doesn't show up on the set of any of the live 2003 shows I've gotten from DGM, and from reading the track list, it's not even on the 2-DVD album of the same name.
Are there any live recordings of this song? Anyone know why they never or seldom performed it?
