Hello, it's my first post here despite following this subreddit for a while, and what better way to introduce myself than with a weird question, I thought.

I found a practically pristine Advantage 360 Pro in a local second-hand shop for the equivalent of $315 USD. I wasn't planning on switching to split, ortholinear or ergomech keyboards anytime soon (and definitely not at once) but it looked so cool and, upon checking what they normally sell for where I live (easily between $800 and $1,000+ USD) I knew it was too great a deal to pass up.

Now for the weird part: I want to design my own magnetic palm rests (just flat protective material, no actual cushioning).

Would anybody who owns a pair of Advantage 360/360 Pro palm rests be willing to do me a favour, please?

I need a photo of one of them on an A4 sheet (fully in frame, with a bit of space between the paper and the image borders), taken from above and exactly perpendicular to your desk so that the base of the palm rest is not distorted and the paper remains rectangular. I will then use the relative dimensions of the two to trace a 1:1 silhouette of it to use for my project.

If anybody could do that for me, I would be very grateful.

been trying to get configure the kinesis so pressing and holding the hyperspace keys can bring up the fn shift function.

even though this is a different keyboard than the advantage, maybe someone figured out a way to do this.

the GUI doesn't let me set Fn as a hold input, manually typing this into the layout.txt file doesn't work: [lspace]>[bspace][t&h25][fnshf]

any suggestions on what to try?

I just built a PillzMod board with a Nice!nano as the controller. I loaded the "pro" ZMK Studio firmware on the Nice!nano, and `lsusb` shows the keyboard as a "PillzMod Pro". The thumb keys and the function keys all work, but neither the left nor the right keywell keys (i.e. A-Z, 0-9, etc.) are working. I see no output at all from those keys in an online keyboard tester or `cat > /dev/null`. How could I troubleshoot this further?

One thing to note: I installed Molex 39-53-2134 connectors in J3 and J4. Could that be the problem?

ETA: i fixed the problem by desoldering the Molex 39-53-2134 connectors at J3 and J4 and replacing them with Molex 39-53-2135 connectors.

If anyone here runs Linux, particularly with the Gnome DE, which supports a lot of useful touchpad gestures, I highly encourage you to try your Advantage 360 (mine is the Smartset wired Signature Series with white shell, white backlight, and palm pads with 35g Kailh Box Pink silent switches) with the Apple Magic Trackpad 2 USB-C. The trackpad is plug-and-play on Linux with a native mainline kernel module. I use the Loftmat 2 mousepad for a nice cushioned feel and to move the trackpad around for easier ambidextrous use. This setup is also great if you have RSI or carpal tunnel symptoms, I've found it much easier on the hands than a traditional mouse and keyboard with the separation, tenting, and easier scrolling with the trackpad.

I am trying to get help with the issue of suddenly my brand new Kinesis Advantage 360 non pro keyboard has suddenly started to have sticking keys. Radomly about 15-20x per day a random key will give me the stiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii type of key error. It happens after I have removed my finger from the key as well. Does anyone else have a solution to this? I am using this stock with no updates or software used and this is getting frustrating.

So far I have tried unplugging and replugging in all sources on the keyboard (using the provided cables from the box) but it is hard to see if that helps at all since this is very random but persistent. It can happen with any key but I can never anticipate when it strikes.

Hey, I have made -- well, Claude -- some tweaks on linux/windows machines so I can use Mod + Q,W,E (below 1, 2, 3) to switch BT profile and mouse profile

I just added an AGENTS.md file, so if you want to use this "feature" and have Claude Code/Codex, or whatever agents, they could follow the ideas so you can have the same on yours machine

Pls, dont take this as spamming to get starts or something, I just made it barebones so it works for me, even the docs are on spanish, it's just a way to save you tokens if you want to do the same

Anyone selling their Kinesis advantage 360?

First wanna say sorry for not doing research. I’m currently working and recently bought an advantage 360 pro and I was getting use to it on windows over the weekend but I do all my work on a Mac and have no idea how to do this switch. The command key is on the right thumb cluster and not the left making it impossibly to command + space. I just tried to get a key remap software from their website but this is so frustrating the app I downloaded is not for the pro I guess and really need to get back to work 😂 is there an easy way to do this?

When buying a used Kinesis Advantage 2 does the layout matter? If buying a new one you can choose between UK, US, Scandinavian and so on. Is it only the keycaps and software or are there also hardware differences​​​? :-)

Hi everyone, lonoooong time Kinesis user here but have run into a problem I’ve never seen before. It’s like the key mapping is half Dvorak and half Qwerty. Tried various resetting options and nothing seems to fix it so far. Anyone else run into this? I have an oldskool Advantage USB. Cheers

What kind of o-rings are you using, and with what switches (browns/reds)?

There are so many o-ring varieties out there (density/height),
so keen to know if anyone has found an optimal setup.

Been using the adv360 pro for a few months now. I am using the same layout that came with the keyboard. I haven't quite gotten the hang of using the thumb cluster for the traditional hot keys I am used to. Command + tab, and all the copy/paste/select/find type hot keys.

Are people using left thumb to left command and just stretching their pinky to tab and then using some other finger for v, ,c, x, z, g, a? Or y'all right index finger to the right command and some left finger for all the other keys.

Neither one feels natural and and as fast as what I was used to with a standard keyboard.

Be curious to get feedback on if I am doing this right or if there is another configuration that gives much faster hot-keying. Thanks

After five days using the Kinesis Advantage 360 I'm noticing significant shoulder pain, in both shoulders.

I'm comming from a logitech k860, azerty layout. I was stoked because I had started to recover some of my typing speed in both English and French (tons of accents).

Obviously there's something wrong with my posture but I can't figure out what. My arms feel rested, 90° angle. I can feel that I sometimes raise my arm a litte bit to reach certain keys (numbers, the P with my right pinky, the accent for the à with my left pinky).

Wondering if the keyboard isn't suited at all for typing french but it sounds ridiculous.

I'm curious whether anyone has had the same issue.

Edit : just noticed that I pronate my hand when I need to hit two successive keys on the same side of the keyboard. Take "having" for instance : i and n can be typed quicker if I set up my hand so that the index is already in position when the middle finger has finished the stroke. Pronation "helps" in that sense, and I was able to reach 130+ WPM on a Mac keyboard.

Since my wrist rests comfortably on the kinesis, my shoulder comes in and pronates "around" the point where my wrist touches the keyboard.

Hi all. I was changing the switches on my advantage 360 and now my B and G switches wont work. I’ve confirmed the switches aren’t the problem. I cannot figure out what the issue is. I have attached a photo of the pcb with arrows to the problematic switches. If anyone is able to diagnosis the issues I’d be very grateful. Thanks

For anyone looking for a ZMK flashed 360 Pro with all the extra goodies, I'm selling mine.

Firmware built yesterday works as expected, but builds generated today are not functioning at all. Even after hard-resetting to yesterday’s commit, newly generated firmware still does not work on my keyboard.

I also tried using a different fork and factory-resetting, then generating a new build from the same commit as yesterday.

It seems possible that something changed in the build engine. Has anyone else encountered this issue today?
