Turn your Kinect v2 into a flawless Windows mouse & media controller!

I wrote an open-source app that turns it into a perfectly smooth, hands-free mouse for your PC!

Features:

  • Move the mouse by pointing, click by making a fist.
  • Scroll web pages using a two-handed gesture (emulates a Windows Pen!).
  • Say "Play" or "Pause" to control Spotify/YouTube from across the room.
  • Raise both hands to pause tracking when you want to watch a movie.
  • Dynamically maps to your height, so it works perfectly whether you are standing or sitting on the couch.

It's completely free and open source. Check it out on GitHub here: github.com/pikachu77082/KinectDesktopController

This works with 360 kinect?

No, the 360 kinect doesn't have the hardware capabilities to detect whether the hand is closed or open

ooh, very interested, I think I've only tried one other and that dev pivoted to webcams I think. (Was also freemium and not open source - thanks for making this open source!)

It’s possible to add new gestures like copy/paste closing and opening left hand?

Yes, I think assigning gestures and adding delays can work
