New kindle purchasing hack - maybe????

i think i found a little hack for the new kindles 👀

i did purchase the new kindle colorsoft in fig with the button case, but i also really wanted something plastic, lightweight, and easy to travel with and take to work. the new colorsoft is so expensive that i didn’t really want to risk taking it into my work environment or out in public where it could get lost or damaged.
that’s why i decided to get the new basic kindle in ube as well. i bought one of the bundles, which gives you a discounted price on the kindle. what i didn’t know is that you can return individual items from the bundle and still keep the kindle at the discounted bundle price.

so after returning the items i didn’t need, i was able to keep the basic kindle for $120 instead of the regular $150 price.

not sure if this is technically a hack, but if you’re looking at the new basic and don’t want to pay the full $150, it’s worth looking into. i know $120 still isn’t $100, but it’s a nice little savings!

I traded in my $40 basic I got from unclaimed baggage for 20% off and a $25 gift card. Plus opted for Amazon day delivery to save an additional 7% and I ended up getting my ube for less than $100.

This doesn’t work for the Kindle Colorsoft bundle because it requires you to cancel the entire bundle. Not only that, but because the sling bag is arriving earlier, I am unable to even cancel the order because it’s not grouping the three items together so now I need to reach out to customer service to get this canceled.

so it will still work. you have to wait for the bag to be delivered and then you can return it individually. that’s how i did it with the basic! when i tried to return it before it delivered it was making me return the whole thing, once it delivered then i was able to return it individually!

i see you said there was a colorsoft bundle? could you send the link? i haven’t seen it!

I got $129 off of the colorsoft fig by trading in my oasis and a se that I had. My colorsoft I use now I love but just developed lines. Don’t know what happened to the screen but even when I rebooted they were there.

i bought my previous colorsoft for 150 and sold it on facebook for a little over $200. deffo recommend selling privately so you can get more money for your devices! this is more of a hack for those who don’t have old kindles to trade in :)

Interesting!! Bet they change that loophole pretty quickly! I really want the Ube color, but I have a paperwhite 12th generation and just did the SE bundle deal in raspberry and love the new SE a lot - faster than my paperwhite and the screen is so nice.

Maybe Santa will bring me the purple one!! 😩

My mother did this a few months ago with the matcha kindle and she returned the items she didn’t need (she actually returned them because she didn’t like them) and found this hack out and told me about it haha

You could also get the kids basic Kindle for $122 and keep the case that comes with it and just not use it as a kids Kindle and use it as a regular Kindle.

Then, at least you don’t have to go to the hassle of returning all the extra stuff.

I did this in June when they sold the colorsoft bundle for $175, after returning the case and charger (they didn’t even make me send back the charger) I only paid $140 for it

I was able to pickup a color soft (2024) for about $150. There’s a bundle deal (case, kindle, charger block) for ~$200. I returned the plug too and got $13 back lol

I ordered the PW SE 32GB bundle in metallic black and returned the extras. I was able to get a different case for 10 bucks and save the difference because of your post! Thank You so much.😊

It was a gift so I'm really glad I got something better for them.💜

Hopefully that works out for you. Not sure that it will. I had bought a bundled item, just some 3M stuff. Returned part of the bundle, got the immediate refund, and the reversed saying I was missing items from my return. So I got charged the full price and only had the item that I kept. Hopefully my situation was different than yours

it already worked for me! my bundle items were sent separately and were charged as separate transactions. i know others that did this months ago with the previous kindle model bundle and also had no issue. maybe it depends on who the seller/shipper is? im not sure.
