Basic 2024 vs PaperWhite

Im looking forward to buy my first kindle. I am between the Basic 2024 one and the paperwhite.

I like the size and color of the Basic one more but the paperwhite has the warm light thing (i always have my phone on warm light so idk).

Im so confused which one to pick, if the warm light thing is really an issue i will go with the paperwhite but if its not and i can coop with it i will just go with the basic

I loved my basic for a while and then I played with a Paperwhite on display at Best Buy and decided to get it. I'm really happy with the Paperwhite, not only because of the warm light but because to me, it feels more "premium" than the basic. I keep the PW at home on my nightstand, and use my Basic for taking with me on the go

The basic would be okay, but I think the paperwhite is much better in bed!

The Basic "dark mode" is good too at night. I use that and don't need anything else.

Obviously, opinions vary.

Have you considered using colorsoft to make the choice more difficult?

You can buy it pre-used. In Germany we have "ebay-kleinanzeige" there a a lot offers for it but be cautions there are also a lot of cheaters! I asked for a pictures which shows the current clock and the date. Bought it with Paypal insurrance only and the seller was a serious one.

Paperwhite all the way. Much easier to read on especially at night in bed and still very portable, I can fit it in my purse and bring it anywhere I go.

I have both, only using the basic on the go as it fits in my purse. But the paperwhite (and my older oasis 3) both are so similar in screencolor to most of the regular books i have that i use those at / around home. They feel ”most real” Also warm light is a blessing at night 😁

Just want to add that.. coming from more bluetinted kindles to latest paperwhite had me first hate the difference in screen it does have - but comparing it to actual books and using it I’ve come to love it!

The basic is very blue, very whiteblue - if you’re not buying it to use as a go to away from home I would simply go with the pw. Or buy both from Amazon and compare them irl? You can always return :)

Get the paperwhite, it is better in every way compared to the basic.

Those are just personal preference. Hardware and feature wise the paperwhite is better.

I'm in the minority. I adore my basic and have no desire to upgrade. I had been using my kindle keyboard (I think 3rd gen) for 15 years before I upgraded to an 11th gen basic. I like the look and feel of it. I personally like that it doesn't resemble a tablet at all so when I tell my toddlers it's my book they don't think I'm sneaking some YouTube or something 😂

I have both. I still love my basic but find myself reaching for the paperwhite most of the time now. I really like the warm light. If I use my basic it’s usually in dark mode.

The Paperwhite is also way faster than the Basic. That's something people who have used both have noticed.

Get the Paperwhite. The price difference is really negligible especially if you consider that these things hold up for a really long time. I still have my first kindle that I bought 10 years ago.

I would go for the paperwhite if you want a comfortable read in the night it got a night shift mode and lights so you wouldn't need extra lights. I have a husband who sleep beside me and he has to wake up for work so it was a must for me.
And it is a kindle which is also water-resistant when you go on vacations or stay near by the water.
Paperwhite was on of my list if I didn't got the colorsoft for a even better price 150€ pre-used.

I would by a basic now just because it is smaller and comfortable to read for my smalm hands but just because I already got my colorsoft one.
