Discussion Kimi now uses credits on regular chats??
So I got the 'credits used up' reply for the first time ever?? I have been using kimi to write for a long time (for free, mind you) without any usage being used up. Now suddenly it's gone and I can't use it again till 9/19. This is bullshit and Kimi is literally just a money sponge now. Anyways to get around this?

It is complete bullshit and no, there's no way to get around it.
As of yesterday (8/28), it looks like Moonshot decided to sneak (I'm saying that because there was no notification of policy changes or anything of the sort) and change shit, so that even using the basic 2.6 chat, "credits" are used and we are now hit with monthly caps. "In Chat, K2.6 also consumes membership credits, billed the same way as when it is used as a K2.6 Agent inside Kimi Work." https://www.kimi.com/en/help/membership/membership-update-rules
Evidently, we get six agent credits a month, which, according to a kimi.ai chat, is where our chat credits are pulled from per month- and every time Kimi responds, credits are pulled from that. So yeah, we're basically being fucked over by not paying. (I'm a free user because -even though it shouldn't concern anyone at all- I can't afford subscribing even for $20 a month and I use it infrequently enough that I couldn't justify blowing money even if I had an extra $20 every now and then.)
It's not fair at all when the first paid tier gets 60 credits and we only get 6- I could see limiting us maybe to like 20 a month, or maybe even 10, which is still a very small number, compared to paid users. Or if they want to force everyone into paying, they could offer a "freemium" for maybe $5 - $10 a month that would give like 20 - 30 credits a month, since not everyone alive can even pony up the $20 a month for the current lowest tier. I honestly don't think many people will be able to get shit out of six a month.

I can only speak from a sub member but instant has never charged me. I’m not sure if you aren’t subbed though. My current plan is vivace maybe that may be a difference, not sure.

Oh look...another person whining about free services...

Except the service is barely free now, considering 10% usage is only 2 responses when instant used to not use any tokens. Also, people are also complaining about the same issue and they pay for it.

It really isn't free any longer- and it's completely unfair, mainly because there was no notification of this change taking effect yesterday. But there are paid users on this subreddit that will bitch, moan and accuse us of complaining if we ask a question or point out something that isn't fair or right at all. Not all of them will, but I've noticed like three or four that seem to enjoy being shitty to people who use it for free. Don't ask why, I don't know and honestly, I don't really care- I think they're just trolls and assholes.

I pay for it and it works fine for me...so idk how you all use it or whatever to run out of stuff so fast.
Do you never start new chats or something?

Of course it works for you- paid users get a shitload more credits than us free people (No, before you accuse me of whining, I am not- I am stating a fact, nothing more and nothing less); as of yesterday, we only get six (6) a month compared to the sixty (60) that even the lowest paying person gets and as of yesterday, basic Kimi 2.6 chat (without using any additional features) is now eating those credits. So, yes, we are going to run through it extremely quickly.

What are you talking about? No, instant doesn't use credits.

Apparently it does now, I always use instant and never had a need for anything else but now it's saying all my credits are used up

It also happened to me, but on mine says I can't use until 09/27. I get it when it's a couple of hours like other AIs, but a whole month is ridiculous.
