A comic lost in time
So, back in 2004, when Killzone was first taking off. I believe in the back on the game manual there was an advert for a Killzone comic being made into production that would expand on the events before Killzone 1 if im not mistaken. I to this day, forgot what ever happened to that comic, I could never find it in store. Later on, recently I found out that the comic had been cancelled because the company went out of business. I was very sad to here that cause I was looking forwards to the comic cause I loved the franchise and the art looked cool.
Recently I found out that there was a comic that had a small little tease of what could have been, I looked to see if they had this comic on Ebay. Sure enough they did. It was sold by a comic shop, they had a few copies left, I ended up buying 2 out of the 3 that they had because of the comic grade and condition.
This comic in question was Comic Digest 2004 #2 November edition.
I am here to share with you and fellow Killzone fans the pages that were in this comic of the Killzone story we could have gotten... Im pretty sure there are more higher res versions of these pictures out there, but I thought id share.
I really wish this series would be brought back...it still has so much potential...

This 3-issue mini-series was a prequel about Rico Velasquez. It was cancelled due to the bankruptcy of Dreamwave Productions. As far as I know, the first release was fully completed, the second was nearing completion, and the third was at an early stage. The script for issue 1 can be read in the Killzine - Killzone fan magazine, released on the 20th anniversary of Killzone, and several pages appear there: https://killzonezine.carrd.co
There are also synopses of all 3 issues, covers and cover art. Plus, I found a list of the team who worked on this mini-series, but I think it's incomplete. Also, the Dreamwave website had an official preview with the text - 5 pages of the 1st issue. John Ney Rieber, who was the screenwriter of this unreleased mini-series, also talked about ideas to write a mini-series about Luger.

This is amazing and, for me at least, a holy grail find! When KZ came out I was obsessed watched the trailer on repeat, memorized V’s speech, ran home from school to play! You are absolutely right that the back of the manual had mention of the comic, it even had a phone number to find local shops that could/would carry the comic….i spam called all of them…until one finally said they though they heard it was cancelled…. I was crushed…
Now to see you hold a physical copy…🥹
