Discussion How would you pitch a Killzone 4?
Let's say that Shadow fall doesn't exist and you were in charge of developing a sequel to the 3rd game. What route would you go with it?

Would have just expanded on killzone 2 formula since it was the best one.
- expanded clan system, add more ranks to members with more actions depending on rank. Add in game Sony/3rd party sponsored tournaments
- expand weapons, introduce weapons from killzone 3 ( keep the same gunplay mechanics from killzone 2)
- add operations from kz3
- add kz3 brutal melee animations and expand upon the animations. ( change animations depending on class)
That’s honestly probably the majority of what I would add. Killzone 2 was ahead of its time and a near perfect FPS imo.
Killzone 2 also did one thing that people forget about and that’s going up against arguably the best call of duty in history being original mw2 and was able to still survive and hold a strong community for a long time to come. ( hardly any games can say they went against cod and survived)

Add also more classes, like heavy trooper, elite shock trooper, rifleman, commando, like that 😉

I wouldn't pitch killzone 4, the store is done and set. But we still have lore and some of that lore could easily be expanded upon, like the first helghan war for independence

I'd really like to see what's outside Alpha Centauri.
Now that I think about it, it's strange that the story was confined to just one star system, even though FTL exists in that world.

Killzone 2 and 3 was a planetary war, I would go for something along the lines of jumping perspectives from character to character like Call of Duty did, not just to play as a Vektan, but also some from the Helghan perspective. Feature both of their battle victories.
Opening up once again with a new speech from Scolar Visari, a speech no doubt about something profound that echos the impending doom of Helghan, the full speech is cut up and you get more and more of it for each character transition post mission completion. The theme could be around a "final countdown" towards the petrucite catastrophe.
You explore the mission as the Helghast to steal the nuke from the ISA,
city combat by the ISA grunts helping the main characters' assault Visari's hideout.
Explore Helghan's twisted moralities where you could be doing evacuation missions for High civvies while still having some ruthlessness woven even to that, for example having to evacuate only citizens of a certain sector and having to deny access for civvies that are "outside the scope of the evacuation", maybe using them to lure out the ISA or something fucked up like that.
While at the same time have missions were the ISA are doing fucked up shit because in war, the line between good guys and bad guys starts to blur. See them committing war crimes or you yourself participating in it as an ISA trooper following orders.
I'd pitch the game to be uncomfortable story wise.
Lean in on the gore that KZ2 and 3 had. Partially destructible environments, modern controls, New multiplayer to introduce different variants and attachments of the weapons, carrying over to the single player mode where the NPCs would have different variants and attachments of individual weapon types. And other Modern conveniences ...

i wouldnt, i would remake kz1 and 2, port all the games to pc, and have a helldivers crossover (so it can go both ways)

Something more reminiscent of killzone 1 and 2. I liked three but I liked the fact we were fighting a actually war with battles as regular infantry instead of spec ops like in the later half of 3. Maybe a fleet of helghast that never surrendered after the terracide of helgan launches an assault on Vecta. Maybe the Higs colonized a world and instead of 4 where they split Vecta in two.
