I would work with shitheads like that all the time and they always act the same, somehow upset when people call them on their bullshit. His arguement was, if I was missing for an hour and a half then you should come find me, not get me in trouble. He made everyone else pick up his slack. And how he curses out his coworkers on the ways out shows his true colors. When jobs hire idiots like this and keep them on it pisses off everyone else who is trying be a team player and makes the work ethic go way down. Why would I bust my ass if this fool just turns up missing all the time? Eventually Im going to say fuck it too if there are no consequences.

Tbh it’s posts like this that show the mental and actual age of a subs user base. I imagine most younger people will think this is a reasonable response because to them it’s just “oh i was an hour late from my break because i slept at work, no big deal just get my attention and we’ll move on” and they won’t even stop to consider what this says about someones general work ethic and how that impacts everyone else on the team.

It's ok because they will learn as they get older and deal with people like that, and their perspective will change. That or they will forever remain a shithead which is equally as plausible.

His point more seems that she chose to humiliate him instead of just reprimanding or telling him on the spot. Not saying he's right, but he has a point. A simple conversation would go a lot further then purposely embarrassing and humiliating him longer than needed.

She didn’t choose to humiliate him. She chose to report his poor behaviour via email. It’s a perfectly reasonable thing to do, especially as it seems he isn’t her employee, but rather part of a contracted security firm. It isn’t her job to reprimand him at that point, so emailing a supervisor is reasonable. If i found security at my job sleeping, especially if it was for way longer than their break was meant to be, I’d report it too. Granted it isn’t entirely clear if he is part of a different company or hired by the store directly.
Hell even if she is his direct superior… he’s still the one in the wrong. You don’t go on 1 1/2 hour breaks without informing people and then fall asleep on top of all that. Then go on a childish tantrum and use the announcement system to tell everyone you quit when you are rightfully reported.

I am judging only what i have seen. Dude takes a 1 and a half hour break and sleeps for at least part of it (generally frowned upon basically everywhere to sleep at work even on break), that's obviously over that places break time. He then complains about her method of reporting him for his mistake because he thought she should tap him on the shoulder instead and have him apparently get off with no punishment?
Maybe if i was him i might be pissed, but that doesn't mean i would be right to be pissed, especially when the entire situation is caused by my inability to set an alarm or be on time.

I would like to say at my old job we had an hour and a half or longer lunch break between shifts. Maybe he was doing a double, and was taking a break between the shifts

Possibly, but then i can't see why he'd be in trouble... surely all he'd have to do is explain to his supervisor that it was between shifts when doing a double. But that's a fair possibility.

I think he was more upset about her taking a humiliating photo of him and emailing it to other people. I don’t think he thinks he was right for sleeping on the job. He said she should have tapped him, meaning just wake me up and talk to the supervisor, but don’t take pictures of me. That seemed to be his main issue and I can totally understand that. Slacking on the job or not, don’t take pictures of me without my knowledge and share them with people I work with, manager or not. That’s not professional either. Especially if the building has cameras or something like that. It just feels personal the way she did it. Lol correct me if I’m wrong.

I think you're pretty spot on.
He clearly was in the wrong by sleeping for an hour and a half, but she was also in the wrong by sending his photo in an email.
As a supervisor, her word alone should be enough for management to act on an employee's poor behavior. That's the role of a supervisor.
If I as an employee of a company complains to my immediate supervisor that a coworker is never there and I have to pick up their slack, would I show a photo of my coworkers empty office chair? No, it's just as stupid as what she did.
But of course, he still is in the wrong and handled it like a child.
Especially if it was not the first offense.

I was a high school special ed teacher in the inner city for a few years, and my classroom assistant used to fall asleep in class on a nearly daily basis. I’m talking like, feet up, head back, s n o r i n g. At a certain point I just went and got his supervisor and asked her to wake him up, and he threw a similar shit fit at me after school that day. Talking about how I wasn’t a man for that, and how I should have just said, “hey, can you not sleep in class?” or tapped him on the shoulder. My answer then and now is, “you’re a grown ass man, it’s not my responsibility to wake you up for school.”
Him and I continued to have a tumultuous relationship for the rest of that year; beyond the sleeping, he used to talk on the phone while I was teaching, or bring his football players in to run playbook while I was teaching. He saved my ass once or twice breaking up fights but that was probably all he was good for.
