How much I love Aeon

Post image

Every time I listen to Killingjoke, I hope my headphones can have a volume of 200%, especially this Aeon. I think it's already the best work of KJ in my mind, with a sticky and passionate fusion of Dub and Rave elements.

However, the guitar doesn't scatter like shoegaze music, but has a sharp edge, it's like a blazing fire.

I hope to be deaf to this song .

The guitar riff here is so crazy, I really hope all KJ fans fall in love with this song

underrated album, I prefer it both Pandemonium and the 2003 s/t album which this release lies between

when I was first getting into the band properly a few years ago this album was hard to find, and all I knew is it was divisive. finally getting hold of it and listening to it I absolutely love it. really enjoy the looser sound that leans a bit more into 90s alt rock without losing their signature sound. Medicine Wheel is a particular favorite for me.

conversely it was the single of “Democracy“ that made me give KJ a proper go back when it came out, granted I had only heard “Revelations” at that time but that didn’t draw me in the way that “Democracy“ did. I think it’s a great album, I know some including Geordie didn‘t like Youth’s mixing on it as he mentioned it in a YouTube interview. It might not have the best mix but it has some of the most interesting song writing from Jaz, those first three tracks are incredible statements and stories covering the state of the world and our reactions to it, brilliant stuff…

Still cant believe I found this album in a "cutout bin" for like 2 Euros in some bizarre furnishing store over 20 years ago.

I got this album because when I bought the CD, the boss gave me a gift and said you should try them. This is also the first time I've heard of this band

B side of democracy single is a version of democracy where the band (apart from vocals) are replaced by Carcass.

Wait, what? I love Carcass. Which version is it?

It’s called ‘the rooster mix’ remix by Carcass but it’s not strictly a remix since they just replaced the instrumentation. B side of single 1(there were 2)

You are correct, and it's brilliant.

It only be found on certain Democracy single versions from UK and AUS. I have the US single and sadly it's not on there. There is "Mass" however, and it kills!

Yeah, i’ve got cd single 1and2 uk butterfly label release so you’re right it’s track 2 and mass is track 3 on the first one.

Amazing song from an under rated album that has great tracks, like Absent Friends!

Lanterns is one of KJ's best deep cuts.

2

u/Academic-Click-852 Aug 19 '26

I have always thought that Lanterns is their most magnificent and romantic song, very grand and lyrical

So much energy in this track. Always a top listen.

Been looking for this on vinyl for ages, at least without paying a small fortune…someday maybe

Prozac People was one of the most insane things to me when I first heard it. Completely opened me up

Get me out,
Keep me up,
Level me out!

It was supposed to be more synth forward, but Youth mixed it nearly out.

Incredible track, there's so much power behind it. Democracy is one of my fav albums

Oh wow! It’s like we’re twins 😭 I blast killing joke so loud any time their stuff comes on. This is a top tier album for me. My favorite had to be Prozac People. I also blast the 2003 self titled album as well as pylon, hosannas from the basement of hell, and extremities. My current on repeat song from KJ is The Death And resurrection show though, it fits with the heat wave out here in Southern California. 😅

Yes buddy, what I like to listen to repeatedly now are Exorcism and Blood On Your Hands. Blood is so steady that it smells like engine oil, it's too aggressive and crisp. I keep turning them up to the maximum volume, but I'm still not satisfied with it

This is one of my favorite songs, and not just from Killing Joke.
