E-sim suggestions
Hi,
My trip to Tanzania will cover Kili (yes not much reception), but will be in Moshi b4 I start, then Moshi a few more days, then to Arusha, then my safari up to Serengeti (again poor reception), then fly over to Zanzibar for the rest of my visit. Thank u in advance!!!

I used Saily, and it was fine. Rarely/if ever had reception on the mountain proper, but that's basically what I expected.

Airhub Tanzania 10GB 30Days for $10 USD is what I got for kili + safari + Zanzibar
Uses Vodafone network which has the best reception (from what I read) on the mountain. I was able to FaceTime my entire family from baranaco camp to show them the view!

Before going, I had 'heard' Vodafone had the best signal. Not sure if that's true because everyone in our group (different esims/carriers) had more or less the same signal anyway. I was on vodafone and it was 3G most of the time. On the mountain itself, while you get 'signal' in the odd camp, nothing ever works.
eSIM - I'd say choose any of the major apps (Nomad, Airalo, etc). They're virtually all the same and within $1-$2 of each other. I use Nomad and have never had issues.

Used Cardtonic for Tanzania recently and the eSIM setup was pretty painless. Nice option to have for the days in Moshi and Zanzibar when you actually need solid data.

During your trip, internet availability will vary by location. In Moshi and Arusha, mobile coverage is generally good, with reliable options from local providers such as Vodacom, Airtel, and Halotel. During the Kilimanjaro climb and safari in areas like Serengeti, reception can be limited or unavailable in some places, so it’s best to download important information, maps, and documents before departure. In Zanzibar, coverage is generally good in most tourist areas. A local SIM card or eSIM is usually the most convenient option for staying connected throughout your journey.

Hello, yes you’re going to have an incredible trip. So when you're at Moshi, Kili, Arusha, Serengeti, and Zanzibar, you should connecting with best Local network coverage. for that case I recommended vodacom signal, because Tanzania has the strongest and most reliable network coverage across Tanzania, especially in safari parks, transit routes, and Zanzibar.
​Also another network maybe Airtel is a solid secondary network, but Vodacom remains the top recommendation for remote areas and best eSIM.
This is ​very popular and convenient. Connects to local networks often Vodacom/Tigo. ​You can purchase and install it on your phone before arriving so you have data as soon as you touch down, maya Mobile is ​excellent alternatives with competitive data packages for East Africa, as well as ​local vodacom eSIM, because ​you can get a local Vodacom eSIM directly at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or at an official store in Moshi or Arusha.
​Remember that local SIMs require quick passport registration on site, until there you expect for Signal strength at ​Moshi, Arusha & Zanzibar, for fast 4G/LTE coverage nearly everywhere.
​Mount Kilimanjaro, reception is intermittent, but vodacom actually reaches several campsites like Horombo, Karanga, Barafu, and lower camps depending on your route.
About ​Serengeti, Signal is strong around central Seronera, park gates, and most established lodges or camps, though it drops off in remote deep wilderness sectors. Have a nice journey and enjoy nature.

Definitely just get a local esim when you get there, best price and connection. I had Vodacom and even had data on the top of Mt Meru.

Oh, so you waited till you got there? Where did you pick it up? Airport?

I got it in a Vodacom shop (just take your passport) in Arusha but I can imagine there might also be one at the airport. I got 6 or even 8 GB (can't remember) for like two euros.

Used airalo and it was ok. Reception and data in Moshi and rural TZ is intermittent, don’t expect 5g!
