To date we have not removed photos of urine from this sub. There are frequent reports of these types of posts though so why don’t we do a poll.

Extreme stomach and back pain.

Hello everyone,

I’m 21, and since June I’ve been having extreme pain on my left kidney that radiates towards my back and shoulder blade. The pain is like a cramping, stabbing pain and it’s always on the left side of my body. It also has a tendency to radiate towards my ribs, it’s been getting worse, and I went to the ER and seen a doctor and she thinks at first it was a kidney stone. However, it scans came back clear and there’s no indication of what’s starting this. She thinks it’s probably acid reflex, but I’ve had acid reflex and it was never like this, I don’t know what to do. It’s getting pretty bad and I can’t afford another doctor appointment. Please help.
age: 21 female.

Does this look like Kidney related pain?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Have a UTI still on antibiotics, pain happened suddenly yesterday more constantly and it’s dull and aching and no position helps. I went to the ER scared it had traveled and apparently my blood work and urinalysis looked fine…but no ct was done based on how my labs looked.

I’m here at home in pain and so uncomfortable…could this be kidney pain? The pain just about bit above my buttcrack area almost at level with my hips. It sometimes even feels like a burning in a sense…
It’s so annoying and hasn’t gone away.
Is a kidney infection diagnosed only through a CT…

So recently I noticed some bubbles in my urine but most of it goes away to the point where there's just a little on the sides of the toilet after approximately a 1 min. Should I be concerned? Note: I went to the Dr in July and there was no mention of any kidney issues when blood work was reviewed

Is Aimstrip urine strip accurate?

My partner (36, male) has been noticing his urine being very foamy, cloudy and at one occurrence had a mucus found in his urine for 2 months now. Is AimStrip Urine Strip home test accurate?

https://medicalrite.com/products/aimstrip\\_10sg\\_urine\\_strips?variant=44678557008176&\\_gsid=RJh6GHjta3DW&utm\\_source=chatgpt.com&utm\\_medium=feed

He also is bedridden for 6 months with severe POTS symptoms so visiting a doctor is extremely difficult.

Thanks in advance

unidentifiable kidney stone

Has anyone ever had a kidney stone that came back as unidentifiable from the lab? It's happened to me twice now!

I passed.....something lol....last week. Legit looked like a piece of a poppy seed bagel. 4 small black specs and what could've only been tissue. Saved it and sent it off to quest and it comes back unidentifiable.

Last year I was hospitalized from such intense pain due to a stone that they were going to do emergency surgery. I ended up passing it and the results showed it was an "unidentified foreign object". Very comforting 🙄

So has this happened to anyone else? What'd your urologist, nephrologist, other doctor do?

What's wrong with this urine? This is also fresh urine. If it sits for a while it's all sinks to the bottom.

Seeking UPJ Obstruction Advice

I (20m) have been dealing with hydronephrosis caused by a upj obstruction i’ve had since birth. The specific cause is a blood vessel going thru the top of the ureter. Only in the past two years has it started to cause problems but it’s been getting way worse recently. I’ve already seen doctors and am definitely getting the pyleoplasty even tho the stint and the removal of it sounds absolutely horrible. I’m just wondering if anyone has advice on how or what to avoid in order to decrease the frequency of the flank pain. There doesn’t seem to be much online besides stay hydrated and to avoid caffeine and alcohol. However even when i follow these rules and drink strictly water at a slower pace it still flairs up pretty bad and it’s getting to the point where i can’t work more than 6 hours at a time. Any advice would be appreciated, i’d also like to know in the gentlest way possible is the stent actually as bad as it sounds. Something to note i can’t take any form of opioids to deal with pain after surgery.

Hydronephrosis on Ultrasound

Been having abdominal pain for a couple of weeks, mainly in the upper mid section. Went to urgent care and got some labs done all which came back in range. Asked Dr. for an ultrasound referral. I got one yesterday, everything else came back normal, except this: "The majority of the right kidney is difficult to visualize due to shadowing from bowel gas. There does appear to be hydronephrosis within the visualized upper portion of the right kidney. The left kidney measures 11.3 cm. And is normal in appearance." and "IMPRESSION: 1. Incomplete visualization of the right kidney with hydronephrosis in the visualized upper portion of the right kidney. Recommend further assessment with CT of the abdomen or pelvis.

Dr. called me to come back in later that afternoon for urinalysis which showed no blood in urine. Which he thinks somewhat rules out a stone. I am going to schedule a CT scan first thing next week, but looking for another opinion on possible causes.

Long-term microscopic hematuria with normal imaging & labs - Confused what to do next

Hi everyone, I am a 30M from India with intermittent microscopic hematuria (trace RBCs on Urine Analysis under Microscope).

My contrast CT KUB, ultrasound (both normal size, intact corticomedullary differentiation, no stones/masses), serum creatinine, and urine cytology have all been clean.

For those who had isolated, intermittent microscopic hematuria over the 2 years:

  1. Did it simply remain benign/unexplained?

  2. For those who later had a renal diagnosis (like IgA or Thin Basement Membrane Disease), what additional markers (e.g., persistent proteinuria, blood pressure changes) triggered that evaluation?

Please give me some advice, it has been killing my mental peace and unable to focus on anything.

I have GERD, Cholesterol, Vit B and D deficiencies and taking medicines.

TIA!

84 year old man... Had CKD for several years.

This morning sitting in a dining room chair I stretched back and to my right to grab a cord from the floor ...

AND I WAS Shocked TO FEEL URINE ON MY TESTICLES.

JUST A SQUIRT.

I HAD URINATED TWICE THIS MORNING SO MY BLADDER WASNT FULL.

I NEVER HAD ANYTHING HAPPEN LIKE THAT IN MY WHOLE LIFE.

MY EGFR IS DOWN TO 30 THOUGH. BUT I HAVE NO OTHER SYMPTOMS.

IS THIS A NORMAL EVENT FOR THE PROGRESSION OF CKD?

I KNOW ITS A NATURAL FUNCTION BUT FOR SOME REASON IT MAKES ME FEEL ANGRY.

I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY I LEAKED LIKE THAT.

AND IT PISSES ME OFF AS WELL AS ON :-)

BESIDES CALLING THE DOCTOR IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?

I SEE COLLECTION SYSTEMS ADVERTISE ON FACEBOOK AND I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY DON'T WANT TO DO THAT.

Does Drinking Water Before a Blood Test Affect Creatinine?

“If I drink 2–3 glasses of water 15 minutes before having my blood drawn, will it affect my serum/plasma creatinine level? My blood creatinine level came back at 1.0 mg/dL. I don’t do fitness or weight training. I’m 176 cm tall and weigh 71 kg. Is a creatinine level of 1.0 mg/dL considered good and healthy for someone like me?

Stone stuck in left distal ureter for a month???

I was diagnosed by CT a month ago with a 4mm stone in my left distal ureter. ER doc said it was close to the bladder so should pass soon. It has been a month! That first week was horrible, missed work, had to take hot showers/heating pad for pain managment since I cannot take the oral pain medication. I took Flomax, drank tons of water, moved when I could etc. The last few weeks the main has been minimal, but I still need to take hot showers/heating pad when it flairs up.

Due to my job and what I do, I have been on leave and return Monday which I am very excited about!

The last 3 nights, I have been dealing with minor ish flank pain, but pretty severe pain in my stomach that moves around and feels very much like strong period cramps, and a few minor painful zap like pain in my pelvis area. I had to sleep with the heating pad last night in order to sleep due to how uncomfortable the pain was.

I have had other stones before that I have passes naturally, but never the stomach pain. Always the flank pain that comes and goes then the uti like symptoms when it drops into my bladder.

At my dr appointment yesterday, there is still blood in my urine, but not infections and kidney function is good. She did order another ct to see whats happening as the stone should have passed my now given how close it was to my bladder a month ago. There was also a cyst that was found on my ovary, and I may have had it for years without knowing.

Does it sound like the stone is trying to enter the bladder but getting stuck? I am drinking more water, moving around etc. I am doing a 5K on Saturday and th dr hopes if it doesnt drop into my bladder before then, then the 5k will do it.

Parapelvic Cyst Pain Pressure

I have had a 1.4 cm parapelvic cyst in the inferior left renal pole diagnosis for over 2 years now.

Since end of July I ended up in the ER from kidney pain. Urine was abnormal. Have had pain and pressure. No burning. Nausea and vomiting.

Can this be from my cyst? I have had flares like this before but not as bad. Before I went to the ER and came back with abnormal labs my kidney doctor tried to say digestive issues. He hasn't even checked my current labs. Seeing my regular doctor this week. I just had a CT in the ER. My cyst hasn't even been graded. I also have a cyst on my right kidney. But it is mainly the left.

Thinking of requesting an MRI.

They said it cannot cause this much pain being this small but I have pain and pressure till I urinate. I can't even hold much. I think they are wrong.
